Started in 1968 under the visionary leadership of the Maharashtra Cabinet Minister, Rajarambapu Patil, the society was initiated under the name Walwa Taluka Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana. Ltd. . Sugar: 38 irrigation schemes have been instituted in the Walwa Taluka by our cooperative, resulting in a steady supply of cane, and consequently an e cient dispensation of cane returns to the farmers. Liquor: Producing liquor from cane molasses, we are one of the largest liquor producing cooperatives in Maharashtra. With a distillery production of 75,000 liters per day, both IMFL (Indian-Made Foreign Liquor) and CL (Country Liquor) are carried out in our updated production units. Bio-Products: Molasses is the primary bio-product of the cooperative. PRESSMUD, a high nutrient waste product from the sugar mill is used in the preparation as well as for bio-composting and producing manure. BAGASSE, another key waste material is used as fuel for steam generation in sugar production. Fertilizers: self-produced fertilizers are provided to the farmers by the sugar factory, and at regular intervals we also set up manure distribution centres. Manure, using raw materials like biogas, cowdung, mud, are used for organically enhancing soil composition and plant growth.
