Employment Opportunity Fresno Police Department, Aviation Mechanic, Fresno, CA Job Description SALARY: $4824 - $5863/mo. The City of Fresno Police Department is currently recruiting for an Aviation Mechanic. Aviation Mechanic is a journey-level classification in the Air Support Unit of the Police Department. The incumbent performs mechanical repairs and maintenance on rotary and fixed-wing aircraft and related equipment in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration rules and regulations, aircraft manufacturer's guidelines, and department policies and procedures. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and maintaining progressive records of inspections, repairs, maintenance logs and manuals; and performing and signing off annual inspections and required Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) modifications. The incumbent will be required to work any shift to include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications TO QUALIFY, an applicant must have: Education and Experience: Possession of a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent AND Two (2) years of airframe and power plant work experience in turbine helicopter maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and inspections. Possession of a current and valid Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic license is required at time of application and must be maintained for the entire term of employment in this classification (must meet the recent experience requirements of FAR 65.83). (Must attach a copy of the license to your online application) Possession of a valid Class "C" California Driver's License is required at time of appointment, and must be maintained for the entire term of employment in this classification. Possession of a valid Commercial Class "B" California driver's license with airbrake and hazardous material endorsements may be required. Possession of a current and valid Federal Aviation Administration Inspection Authorization Certificate (IA) must be obtained within 24 months of appointment. Successfully complete a polygraph exam and an extensive background investigation prior to appointment.

THE EXAMINATION PROCESS The selection process may consist of the following: APPLICATION REVIEW: Applications submitted will be reviewed and a limited number of the most qualified candidates may be invited for a panel interview. The selection will be based upon those applications and resumes which demonstrate the greatest breadth and depth of applicable education, experience, skills and training. Therefore, applicants are urged to submit sufficiently detailed information in their application materials for a proper evaluation. PANEL INTERVIEW - 100%: A panel of subject matter experts will conduct a job-related panel interview to evaluate each candidate's training, experience and personal traits for the position. Candidates must achieve a passing score to qualify for the eligible list. VETERAN'S PREFERENCE Qualified veterans who pass the examination may obtain five (5) additional points. Candidates applying for veteran's preference are required to submit a copy of their DD214 with their application during the specified filing period. Evidence must be presented to indicate that the candidate was discharged honorably from the military service. Veterans, including City employees, must resubmit proof of honorable service for every examination for which veteran's preference credit is requested.
