Saturday 21 April 2018 Orton Square and Cultural Quarter Celebrate St. George with free activities on Orton Square, Cultural Quarter and St. George’s Area of Leicester.

Expect madcap music and mirth, songs and stories based on St. George and the Dragon.
1pm: The Gruffalo With his terrible tusks and claws, knobbly knees, green wart on the end of his nose and purple spikes all over his back, The Gruffalo will be making a personal appearance.
1pm: Blaze the Dragon This magnificent friendly beast stands at 7 feet tall and is 13 feet wide, which means he'll instantly capture your attention along with his helper Pixie.
1.30pm: Maypole dancing A fun opportunity to take part in this traditional dance. Join in with the experienced dancers and take a turn around the maypole.
2pm: Leicester Morris Men Traditional dances for St. George with the ever popular Leicester Morris Men.
Join the parade of knights and princesses around Orton Square, led by Sylvesta the Leicester Jester. There will be prizes for the best costumes. To enter please go to Information point on Orton Square by 2.15pm.
2.50pm: Parade prize giving

fun show & folk dancing finale Take part in a mass folk dance with all of the days characters, performers and musicians for a rousing finale.
Also on Orton Square Bill Brookman and friends street arts: Children’s arts activities, circus skills, balloon modelling & giant bubbles. Genii Productions: Arts tent full of activities with lots of things to draw and make, including shields for young knights and decorations for young princesses. The Book Bus: Books to read and storytelling sessions. Face Painting: Based in the Arts tent.

Two Queens Gallery Take a sneak peek behind the scenes at Two Queens artist-run gallery and studios, and see work in progress by resident artists and associate members. Leicester Print Workshop Design your own dragon using relief printing technique, add your design to our giant tapestry being made on the day and make your own prints to take away. Also view Aspects of Print by Roy Bizley in the exhibition space.
St George's weekend beer & gin festival Open Friday, Saturday & Sunday
The Exchange Join in the festivities with a weekend of brewers, acoustic sessions and entertainment. Friday 20 April: Acoustic Sessions hosted by Kenny Wilson 8.30pm Saturday 21 April: Acoustic Sessions 3pm - 6pm and Stoned Cherries 8pm Sunday 22 April: Acoustic Sessions hosted by Andy Griffiths 3pm - 6pm with quiz and £1 a pint for Sup Up Sunday.
Dragon Trail Using the special map, be guided to key locations to find the hidden dragons. Once you have collected all the names, take your sheet to the Information Point on Orton Square where you will be entered into the prize draw. Dragon Trail maps will be available on the day from the Information Point on Orton Square from 12 noon and also available to download in advance from visitleicester.info. The prize draw will take place at 2.50pm

Leicester Market St. George Fights the Dragon Monday 23 April 11am & 1pm Come to Leicester Market to cheer on St. George as he rescues a damsel in distress from the dastardly dragon.
