Objectives • Google Drive incorporates the document creation features of Google Docs with a cloud computing solution that keeps your content updated and synchronized across the web, your computer, and your mobile device. • In this course, I will teach the essentials for creating, formatting, sharing, and editing Google documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and forms. • The course also introduces the new Google Drive homepage, the Google Drive sync folder, and file management on the online web drive. 2

Introduction • Google drive has one slogan “Work together better” • Google Drive gives you access to your work from anywhere, across your Mac, PC, mobile devices and on the web. • Simply download Drive on your Mac or PC to sync files from your computer to the cloud. • Update a file on one device and changes are automatically saved to Drive and your other device, so you have the most up-to-date version of your files wherever you need them. 4

• In the Docs, Sheets and Slides editors multiple people can work on the same document at the same time. 5

Introduction (Cont.) • Google Drive Vs. Docs?  Google Drive is the new home for Google Docs  Your files are now stored in Google Drive, and you can access them anytime at drive.google.com.  Just like before, you can upload, edit, share, and create files online. But with Google Drive, you can access your files wherever you are, from any device.  And you can work with even more file types by installing Google Drive apps. 7

Introduction (Cont.) • What's the same? • If you've used Google Docs, some things in Google Drive will be familiar.  Create Google Docs by clicking the red Create button.  Share with exactly who you want — without email attachments.  Search or sort your list of files, folders, and Google Docs.  Preview files and Google Docs. 8

Introduction (Cont.) • What's changed?  Collections are now called folders.  More things have been added to the Settings menu, including upload settings.  The left navigation has new views: o My Drive o Shared with me o Activity

 The Home view is gone. Instead, use My Drive to organize all of your files, folders, and Google Docs.

Getting Started with Google Drive • To access all of your files, folders, and Google Docs, you have three options:  Sign into Google Drive on the web at drive.google.com.  Open the Google Drive folder on your computer (created when you install Google Drive for your Mac or PC).  Go to the Google Drive mobile app on your Android or iOS device. 10

Getting Started with Google Drive (Cont.) • Method 2 – Install Google Drive for your Mac or PC Step 1: Open a web browser and type drive.google.com

Step 2: Type your Email and Password, Click Sign in

Step 3: Click Download Google Drive for PC

Step 4: Click Accept and Install, then follow the instructions!

Step 5: Open Google Drive from your computer, fill your Email and Password and then click Sign in

Step 6: Press Next

Step 7: Click Star sync to synchronize your files from cloud (Google server) to your computer

Step 8: Open Window Explorer from your computer, then you can see Google Drive

Note: You can copy your documents to or from your Google Drive as you did it in Window Explorer.

for Google Drive Note: Google Drive is a free product for everyone, but you must have an apple account 17

• Try It Out!  Create an Google account, if not exist  Use your Google account to apply all three methods

Working with Files on Google Drive (Cont.) • How to delete file(s) from Google Drive Step 1: Sign in to your Google Drive and Right Click on

file that you want to delete, then click Remove

Step 2: You can also remove more than one file by selecting them, then click on Remove

Step 3: Click on Trash to see you file(s) deleted

All files in trash, can be restored to the old place 27

Step 4: If you want to make sure your file(s) was removed from the cloud (server), you must click Empty trash

Organizing and Searching Google Drive • Create a new folder in Google Drive Step 1: Sign in to your Google Drive and click Create

Step 4: You can filter with many types of Google Docs, for example Google Docs 34

• Anyway, you can search by typing what ever you want, then click search

• Try It Out!  Upload one file (any type) from your computer to your Google Drive  Upload one folder, which has some files from your computer to your Google Drive  Move existing file(s) to your new folder in your Google Drive  Search one of your files that you have done above in your Google Drive  Remove file which has been found from your Google Drive (make sure, your file not exist in the cloud anymore!) 39
