Pick the right type of page for your business

If there’s a physical location, make sure to pick that as it enables Google Places and Reviews to become active

Optimizing the page: •
Upload a large cover photo
•
Upload profile photo for a circular icon
•
Have correct information filled out
Posting good stuff: •
Use formatting to make your text stand out
•
Use hashtags, starting with the most important first (no more than 3 in a post)
•
Mention other users by putting @ or + before the name
•
Make it visual - share photos to use up more real estate on the page
•
Select a captivating thumbnail when sharing links
Using communities: •
Find communities that are relevant for your biz
•
Read the rules and guidelines before posting
•
Don’t be a spammer, be a part of the community
•
Don’t “link dump” - include an introduction or a summary when posting a link to a community (read the guidelines to see if self-promotion is acceptable)
•
Engage with others in conversations
•
Post in the right group discussions within the community to keep everything organized
Connecting with others: •
Don’t follow people just randomly
•
Engage with users before following to catch their attention and increase chances of a follow back
•
Engage with their posts after you follow them to show genuine connection and being a part of a community
•
Segment users you follow into circles (aka lists) to keep everything neat and organized
•
When making an important announcement you want your specific circle to know about, notify by email
