DSP IP during IP69k certification tests.
Your brand reputation depends on the quality of your product. Your bottom line depends on your efficiency. The Goring Kerr DSP IP metal detector gives you more of both. On the production line, time really is money, and when you package a high-moisture product — meat, fish, cheese, sauces, preserves — time spent washing up comes right off of your bottom line. But the DSP IP withstands 1450 PSI, 80˚C high-pressure washdown without protection and has the IP69k certification to prove it. No hand washing and no cover-up means more productivity and a better return on your investment. The system’s internal power supply saves space on your production line. It gives you more flexibility and simplifies installation. That means less hardware and external wiring to install and maintain, and one less set of connections to cause problems later. Digital Signal Processing (DSP) delivers more accurate, less ambiguous detection. At maximum line speeds, the DSP IP can detect metal that other systems might miss without rejecting product unnecessarily. Your operation stays fast and efficient, and waste is minimized without jeopardizing quality. Our optional and world-patented AuditCheck
automatic performance verification system gives you even more control. By continuously monitoring the performance of the metal detector, it quickly spots and reports even small changes in sensitivity. This lets you fine-tune operations in real-time to deliver more product and waste less, while avoiding expensive quarantine and embarrassing recalls.

Features & Benefits • AuditCheck™ Automatic Performance Verification AuditCheck™ is a unique and world-patented device that allows the metal detector to automatically monitor the sensitivity performance of the system. A test shuttle is pneumatically passed through the head and the resulting signal is compared to calibration information. The test is carried out on a regular basis, based on user requirements entered into the processor. Any deviations from standard are reported and the operator can take appropriate action. Small changes due to product effect can be identified, allowing for early recalibration, which eliminates downtime and re-work. It can be shown that AuditCheck offers considerable savings as a result of reduced manual testing and the reduction or elimination of product quarantine and re-work. The AuditCheck™ test results are reported, if required.
• Reject Validation An important aspect of quality control is to ensure that the automatic reject mechanism is working correctly. A reject validation option monitors the reject pack and ensures that it travels into the reject bin. If it does not, an alarm is generated. Reject validation also takes place during an AuditCheck or GK Quality Test, which gives an early warning of any reject problems. • Printer and Communication Options In order to keep quality records up to date and in a convenient format, the DSP IP’s operation and production information may be printed to either a local or remote printer. The metal detector may also be connected to a SCADA or similar system using our communications option.
• GK Quality Test The GK Quality Test is an aid to ensure that manual quality checks are performed correctly. The operator is prompted to pass test spheres through the head. If these are correctly rejected, the tests are considered to be satisfactory and an appropriate report can be generated. If the tests fail or are not carried out within an acceptable time frame, an alarm can be generated.
FEATURES Universal Power Supply
The Goring Kerr DSP IP Metal Detector uses a universal power supply that is suitable for use throughout the world without changing any internal, or external links. It’s operation power 90 / 250 volt AC supply specifications are: 50 / 60 Hz Single Phase and Earth 30 watts (maximum).
Fault Masks
There are a number of fault conditions that can be selected from the front panel in order to generate an alarm warning. These are chosen on an individual basis. The following continuously monitored fault conditions are available: Search Head Fault Shaft Encoder Fault Reject Confirmation Fault QA Test Response Fault Battery Low Fault QA Test Result Fault Product Memory Fault
Excessive Reject Fault Photo Reject Fault Phase Limit Fault 24 Volt Fault Reject Block Fault AuditCheck Fault PSU Fault
Output Signals
There are 5 output signals available on the DSP IP. Two are solid state and are usually reserved for the reject and AuditCheck control. The other three are relay outputs used for faults, alarms, and other miscellaneous applications.
Approvals
The DSP IP has worldwide approvals including IP69k, CE and CSA.
Communication Connections Communication and printer connections are made using either a standard RS232, or four wire multi-drop RS485, interface. DSPNet Communications
DSPNet is a communications and control software package that allows up to 32 (optionally 64) DSP2, DSP3, and DSP IP metal detectors to be connected to a central PC. They are connected using a simple twin two-wire network. The software package allows remote operation of the metal detector and interrelation of the operational data. The system can collect and store a wide variety of reports from the metal detectors. Using a modem connection to the PC, the metal detector can be diagnosed remotely in the case of problems. A full specification of the DSPNet is available from your local sales office.
Manufacturing Quality
All Goring Kerr Metal Detectors are manufactured in an ISO9001 facility to ensure the highest possible manufacturing standards.
