Graduate Recruitment Programme Junior Marketing and Online Communication Assistant Descriptive Details The Communication and Marketing department at the University of Cape Town is seeking to appoint a Junior Marketing and Online Communication Assistant to work in the department’s online and marketing sections. The incumbent will have an opportunity to work on and gain insight into UCT’s online and marketing initiatives and campaigns across a range of digital platforms.
Summary The Junior Marketing and Online Communication Assistant will work under the guidance of the online and marketing sections, but will also receive exposure to other activities within the department. The assistant will receive the necessary training to work on UCT’s corporate website. The position is a fixed contract post of 12 months. The salary range for this position is between R85 325 and R151 458 depending on the candidate’s skills and expertise.
Requirements • An appropriate qualification in one of the areas of marketing, copywriting, communication and media or language studies. • Thoroughly familiar with social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn) • Good writing skills • Excellent knowledge of marketing and a demonstrable understanding of the web and digital as a marketing channel • Relevant code driver’s license and own car
Responsibilities • Assist with monitoring and updating UCT’s corporate website and social media platform • With guidance, research and implement monitoring systems that monitor UCT’s digital presence and performance across all platforms • With guidance, implementing and monitoring of UCT’s corporate marketing performance • With support, implementing and assisting on UCT marketing campaigns • Responsible for gathering information as and when required for marketing campaigns • Track and monitor media placements, industry trends, and social media benchmarks which affect the UCT brand
