GRI Taxonomy Project Financial Services Sector Disclosures Experts Panel Terms of Reference

GRI, in collaboration with Deloitte, is working on the GRI Taxonomy update, which will also include the Financial Services Sector Disclosures. GRI is now calling for sustainability reporting experts from the financial services sector that are familiar with GRI G4 Guidelines to provide their comments on the draft taxonomy. SCOPE AND REQUIREMENTS The objective of the Experts Panel is to provide feedback on the Financial Services Sector Disclosures related portion of the GRI XBRL Taxonomy 2014. The scope of review includes the following: 1. Whether the defined XBRL disclosures correctly reflect the same disclosures in GRI G4 Guidelines. 2. Whether the taxonomy structure of these disclosures is relevant and enables reporting “in accordance” with the Guidelines. The Expert Panel will focus on the correct reflection of the Financial Services Sector Disclosures content, rather than on the technical features or stylistic and grammatical presentation.The latter will be determined by the GRI Secretariat to ensure consistency with the existing GRI G4 Guidelines. For the purpose of the review the Financial Services Sector Disclosures from the taxonomy will be presented to the experts in an MS Excel format. An MS Excel version of the draft of the Financial Services Sector Disclosures will be provided by email on 15th September 2014. The Expert Panel members will have until 17th October 2014 to provide feedback.

MANAGEMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION

The GRI Secretariat is responsible for overall project management and implementation, including:     

Scheduling conference calls to explain how to provide the feedback Preparing and providing an MS Excel document with the disclosures to review Collecting the feedback Making relevant changes and finalizing the GRI Taxonomy 2014 Preparing external communications about the taxonomy development and its outcomes

DOCUMENTATION AND FINAL PUBLICATION The GRI Secretariat will exercise reasonable judgment in deciding when a specific working document is ready for public exposure, bearing in mind the goal of transparency in the overall process. GRI has the right of final decision regarding the content, format and size of the final documents.
