Group Visits to Corbridge Corbridge is a beautiful and historic village dating back to Roman times when the town of Corstopitum was an important supply base for the troops on Hadrian’s Wall. Today it offers fascinating historical attractions combined with unique independent shops and a wide range of tempting tearooms, restaurants and pubs.

ATTRACTIONS Corbridge Roman Town Corbridge Roman Town is a Roman Civilian settlement which has been extensively excavated to reveal important treasures including the Corbridge Hoard and the Lion of Corbridge which are on display in the excellent modern museum at the site. Coaches can access the site directly and there are coach parking facilities available in the car park. Aydon Castle Aydon Castle is a relatively little known English Heritage property, a charming fortified medieval manor house of 13th century origins situated just to the north of Corbridge village. Coaches can access the castle via the A68 going north from Corbridge towards Jedburgh and groups can be set down in front of the castle with coach parking available in the adjacent visitor carpark. St Andrew’s Church Corbridge’s parish church dates back to the 7th century, it includes relics from Roman, Saxon, Viking and Norman Times and is partially built with stones from Hadrian’s Wall. St Andrew’s is centrally situated in the Market Place in the heart of the village.

WALKS Heritage Trail Guides The Historic Corbridge Trail and The Historic Fortifications Trail are two walking leaflets developed by the Corbridge Village Trust which highlight the fascinating history of the village whilst taking in its tranquil and picturesque surrounding. The Guides are available from the Tourist Information Centre.

SHOPPING Corbridge is famous for its wide range of independant shops which are situated in the very compact historic centre of the village on Hill Street, Middle Street, Main Street, Watling Street and the Market Place. The shopping scene has a vibrant run up to Christmas, with late night shopping events and a Christmas Tree Festival in St Andrew’s Church.

FACILITIES - DROP OFF POINT & COACH PARKING Coaches can set down in the centre of the Village in Hill Street or Main Street and then park in the Rugby Club car park – contact the Tourist Information Centre for further details. Parking for coaches is available at Tynedale Rugby Club in Corbridge. The rugby ground is on the south side of the river Tyne. From the north, go over the bridge and bear left onto the B6529. After 300yds bear left onto Station Road and follow to the end where the club entrance is on your left. View a map

PUBLIC TOILETS & REFRESHMENTS Public toilets are situated on Princes Street and include disabled facilities. Radar keys are available to purchase or loan from the adjacent Tourist Information Centre.
