Our Future Is Now Focus and Simplify
Lady Tammy and I would like to wish all of you Happy Holidays and thank you all for your support at Murat this year. Now that my year serving as Potentate is coming to an end, the questions are being asked if I am glad or sad that my term as Potentate is ending. Honestly, I am neither; with the Divan line so strong, I am excited to see what the future holds for Murat so with that, I am ready to move on into 2014. While I am at it, I would like to give a special thanks to my Divan line—Bill Rasner, Tim Murphy, Carl Culmann, Art Borton, Willie McKinney, Larry Jefferson, P.P., Chuck Shull, and Scott Schuster—for all of their team effort in making 2013 a very successful year for Murat. Also, I would like to thank the Murat Board of Directors—Earl Moore, Bob Wilson, Bud Abel, Phillip Thrasher, P.P., George Clark and Charlie Crabtree, P.P.—for all of their support and watchful eyes throughout 2013. I hope you will continue to support our new Potentate, Divan, Unit Heads and Club Leaders for 2014. Really, as Potentate, it comes down to my philosophy:“Do you want to play it safe and be good at what you do or do you want to take a chance and be great at what you do?”This year at Murat we created five new events: the Murat Brown County Summer Fest, Sportsman Raffle, Shrine/White Castle Day, Masonic/Shrine Golf Outing, and the Jerry Markovich, P.P. Bike Ride. All of these events were very successful and I want to thank all of you for that.
Tim Whitaker has played a major role in my success, serving as Chief Aide. He has spent countless hours driving the Divan bus to all the different events and working to ensure that my leadership was strong. John Montgomery, who crushed it on the hospitality end this year, did a great job organizing the after Stated Meeting meals along with the Imperial and GLSA hospitality rooms. I was so fortunate to have both of them on my team. To all of my Aides, I want to thank you for supporting Murat and me this year—only a fool thinks they can accomplish major tasks alone, and I am thankful to have all of you on my team. I would also like to thank our office staff for all of the hard work and support they have given to Murat this year. A special thanks to my Lady Tammy for all of her support for the past seven years. It has been a great honor to serve as the 102nd Potentate to such a great Shrine as Murat. In closing, today is the oldest you have ever been, yet the youngest you will ever be, so do as I do and touch them all every day! God Bless our Shriners Hospital Staff. Yours in the Faith James N. Priest Illustrious Potentate 2013 P.S. Please also see Tammy’s Farewell on page 9 and My Special Thank You’s on page 18.

The Best Reason To Be A Shriner
GORDON J HUSK, FORMER CHAIRMAN, BOARD OF GOVERNORS, SHRINERS HOSPITAL®–CHICAGO
W
hat is the best reason to be a Shriner? If you ask a Shriner what caused him to join this fine organization, his response might be lengthy. He might have admired a relative or close friend who was a Shriner; perhaps he was inspired by the colorful parades or the circus; he may have heard of the excellent care provided by Shriners Hospitals; or he may have been drawn to an attractive building where men live the Masonic principles and enjoy fellowship with others, sharing their interest in business, the military, music, cars, airplanes, motorcycles or transporting patients to hospitals. There are many reasons for a man to become a Shriner, but why does he remain a Shriner? The reasons might include any of those shown above, plus several others. There are many joys of being a Shriner, and nearly every Shriner will say the best reason to remain a Shriner is to proudly support the mission of Shriners Hospitals for Children. The camaraderie, the fellowship, and the lifelong friendships with like-minded people are very strong, and that strength is the basis for unified support of our hospitals and the more than one million children who have been helped since our first hospital opened in Shreveport, LA, in 1922. At the October 19 Murat ceremonial, 20 men became Shriners. Knowing the positive impression of a hospital visit, Illustrious Potentate Jim Priest gave these new Shriners and their ladies an opportunity to travel by bus to Shriners Hospital in Cincinnati. Several of us joined them on the trip. Upon arrival at the hospital, Illustrious Potentate Priest inducted four more men into Shrine membership. They had been brought to the hospital by members of Southeastern Indiana Shrine Club. Murat is represented on the Cincinnati hospital board by Charles Crabtree, Jim Priest and Bill Rasner. In the board room of the hospital, Illustrious Sir Priest told the group how board meetings are conducted and invited board representatives of the Lexington and Chicago hospitals to add their comments. Shriners who regularly volunteer at the hospital conducted tours of the hospital, explaining in detail the functions of each area of the hospital and the services provided to patients. 4
During the bus ride back to Indianapolis, the new Shriners eagerly asked questions about the hospitals.Their enthusiasm was genuine, and their questions led to long discussions. We suggest that you make these new Shriners welcome, and ask them,“What is the best reason to be a Shriner?” Shriners Hospitals for Children® is a pediatric healthcare system of 22 hospitals dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing specialty care, innovative research and outstanding teaching programs. Children up to age 18 with orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate are eligible for care and receive all services in a family-centered environment, without regard to the patients’ ability to pay. Shriners Hospitals for Children relies on the generosity of donors to deliver this mission every day.

CHIEF RABBAN WILLIAM B. RASNER & LADY VICKI CORDIALLY INVITE YOU TO
THE MURAT MAGAZINE
To All the Murat Ladies As 2013 is coming to a close, I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to making our seven-year journey in the Divan line so incredible. I can’t even begin to name names because I am sure I would miss someone, but you all know who you are. I want to thank everyone from each Club and Unit for their fun, fellowship and hospitality. You all made Jim and me feel so welcome in our travels. I would like to take this time to thank Deb Goodman for organizing the ladies’ bus trip—what a great time we all had. Our trip to the Cincinnati hospital in October proved to be very rewarding not only to me but to the new nobles and their ladies who traveled with us on the bus.
Tarum Shrine Club Well,Thanksgiving has come and gone here at Tarum. It was filled with food, fun, and fellowship. Everyone enjoyed being with family and friends and, of course, eating too much. It is hard to believe that Christmas is right around the corner. That means the Children’s Christmas Party is on tap. Please contact President Robert to see how you can help and what the hospitals may need for Christmas. With the Christmas season upon us, it means that the Old-Fashioned Christmas in the Depot District will be starting up.This festival is every Tuesday evening during December up until Christmas. Roger Richert once again will have Tarum take the pictures with Santa during this fun event. Obviously, we will need volunteers to help take pictures. This is loads of fun and there is nothing like seeing a child’s face when they are on Santa’s lap and getting their picture taken. It does your heart and soul good to witness their innocent belief and the wonder in their eyes at all the Christmas sights and sounds. Please sign up for a shift and remember that Roger donates all the profits to the Shriners Hospitals. As always, Christmas brings family and friends together to celebrate. It is a time of remembrance and reflection. Most of all, it is a time that fills us with hope for the future, for it is the time of our Savior’s birth. Let us each take a moment to honor the memory of those who have passed on, and rejoice in those who are still with us. It is the time of rebirth and filled with the promise of a brighter future. Also, it is a time when there are many who don’t have family left or friends who are near to them. So take the time to visit those who are alone or those who are less fortunate than us. It will lift their spirits and yours at the same time.
DECEMBER 2013
Tammy Priest Thanks to the Divan ladies for all the support you have given this year. We had a great task in hosting the Imperial Session this year and, as always, our Murat group rose to the occasion. We had a great time on our Caribbean cruise last month and at the GLSA session in September. Thanks to my noble Jim for supporting me in my projects and events this year. I have best wishes for Bill and Vicki in 2014, along with the rest of the Divan and their ladies— we will miss the fun activities. In closing, I want to wish all of you a very joyous and safe holiday season.
Jeff Dickey As Tiny Tim said,“God Bless us, every one!”Actually, Charles Dickens penned that line. Cindy and I want to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas. I also want to ask you to say a prayer for Peace on Earth.

Corvette Club Greetings Nobles from the Corvette Club! Well we did it! Twenty-three Corvettes and two steel cars made the mystery trip via the well-planned route by our convoy leader, Noble Gary Cleveland, and his Lady Terri. We enjoyed a wonderful buffet lunch in Metamora and “After Glow” at the Cleveland’s home. Who could forget that “Christmas Story” moment when those delinquent canine party crashers and their two confused human
Flying Fezzes
Patrick DeCallier
The Flying Fezzes had a number of items to cover in their meeting this month. Discussion centered on plans for the Veterans Day Parade and an “update” on the Lutherwood Christmas Party for the children at the facility. Discussion was also held regarding plans for the upcoming officer election. Some work was planned for the trailer that hauls the Flying Fezz airplane.
Highlanders
Jerry Lance
From all the Highlanders, a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year. Looking forward to 2014, the Highlanders are seeking out new members. Come join us. We are the number one marching unit of Murat temple. We teach, we play, we march, and we all have a good time. Come join us at our business meeting the first Monday of the month. Also join us on the second and fourth Monday of each month at our practices. Stay warm this winter. Until next time. 10

companions bounded in? Thanks for your hospitality! We are already looking forward to next year. The Putman Park experience was small in numbers but a blast just the same. All is right with the world when you are behind the wheel of a Corvette on a race course. OH BOY! Right, Danny? We wrapped up November with our annual Christmas party—good food—good fun—good fellowship. To our Snowbirds, we wish a safe trip … keep warm and think of us “Back Home Again in Indiana.”
Firemen’s Club
A special thanks to all our wonderful ladies for indulging our big boy toys and joining in our activities, parades, trips, etc. We couldn’t do it without your support. We invite all Shriners to check out our Club, which meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at Murat Shrine. Come early for dinner and enjoy some fellowship before and after meeting in the Murat Oasis Room. Remember, you do not have to own a Corvette to join our Club or participate in our activities. Come join us; we would love to have you. For Event and Parade details or Membership information, contact David Heacox at (317) 507-1564 or e-mail him at david_heacox@yahoo. com. Are you receiving our e-mail updates? Do we have your correct contact information? “Having Fun & Helping Kids”

Season’s Greetings Nobles, It’s hard to believe the year is coming to an end, Christmastime is upon us, and a new year is around the corner. I hope you all enjoy time with your family and friends. All we really have in this world are family and friends—the rest is all fluff. Keep in your prayers the families of those members we have lost as they get through this holiday season, and the men and women around the world who are in harm’s way to keep us a free country. It is time to reflect on the activities we participated in over the past year and think of ways to improve these events for next year.Thank you all who have rolled up your sleeves and jumped in to help. As Potentate James Priest’s year is coming to an end, we would like to thank him and Lady Tammy for a very successful year. This would not have been possible without a very strong Divan and all of their long hours and hard work. I would like to thank Secretary Joe Olofson for keeping things in order and Treasurer Joe Krebsbach for keeping track of our finances. Also, thanks to my second in command, Bill Joyner, for stepping up when duty called and I could not be present for our meetings; to Second Vice Jerry Lance for filling in when both Bill and I could not be there; and our ever present chaplain, Ed Pierce, for his prayers. I would like to thank P.P.Tracy Badgley for all of his help with our parade engine. This is and has been a bigger project than any of us expected; however, things are moving along. A big thank-you to P.P.Tim Whitaker—he always seems to know what is going on and where to find the answers to your questions. Thank you all. I wish good luck to the new leaders for 2014. Rolling Hills Shrine Club This year is close to being history. It is a good time to look back at all our successful programs as well as the projects that were not quite as productive. RHSC was able to procure a new full size van for patient transportation; I believe this to be the highlight for the Club in 2013.Thanks to all who made this happen. Our parade unit made several local
Duane Graham
parades; however, we could use more support. The highlight of the year was participating in the Imperial parade on a cold and rainy evening. We were proud to represent Murat and RHSC with a national audience. Our monthly meetings continue to be a great night out with a super meal. The Club provides the meat and we are blessed with several great cooks who
supply everything else. If you are not attending meetings, it is your loss. Our least successful project is adding new members. At this writing, we only had one new member this year. Nobles, the Club really needs your help. Our membership continues to decline and we will not sustain our Club over the long haul at this rate. Help!

Thanks to Bob Dancey, former commodore of the International Association of Shrine Yacht Clubs and former commodore of the Murat Yacht Club, a total of $4,000 was donated to the Transportation Fund in October. Bob sponsored a trip to the casino in September. He raised more than $2,000 and was instrumental in getting his American Legion Post to donate another $2,000. Many kudos to Noble Bob Dancey! Well done! The Yacht Club is busy planning a schedule of social events for the members, and it appears we will be sponsoring a bus trip to the casinos in February and the Knights of the Sea later on in the year. We meet every third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Oasis Lounge in the Shrine Center and each Friday for lunch. Because our normal lunch place—the Kennington American Legion Post—has shut down its food and beverage operation, we are exploring new venues for the Friday lunch. Our weekly luncheons are really quite a bit of fun and we welcome all Shriners to join us. Please stay tuned for further information. The Yacht Club is a true yacht club and we have reciprocity with more than 2,000 yacht clubs in North America. For a mere $20 per year, it is the best deal in Shrinedom and we are the largest club at the Murat Shrine. Should you want further information regarding the Yacht Club, please feel free to contact any of our officers. The officers and directors are listed on our Web site, and you can also order all types of Murat Yacht Club merchandise from our official gear provider, Joyce Puterbaugh. Just click on the Shrine Web site and click on the Yacht Club. Until next month, we wish you fair winds with following seas.
As we close down 2013, the Murat Patrol Unit officers would like to thank everyone for your support and participation in this year’s events, and look forward to having a great time in 2014. For all the local racetrack and national NASCAR fans, all of the racing engines and wheels have been quieted for another year.We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday and you have all of your Christmas shopping completed, if not at least started, for your family and friends. We should be gearing up for all of the college bowl games, college basketball, visiting with friends and family, and other happy season festivities to begin. In November, everyone had a great time with food and fellowship with the other Unit members, their families and friends at our Patrol pre-Thanksgiving pitch-in at the Murat Shrine on Saturday, November 9. Mark your calendars to bring your family, friends, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews to our annual Patrol Unit sponsored Christmas party this month. It will again be at the Beech Grove Bowl, 95 N. 2nd Ave., Beech Grove, IN 46107, starting at 1p.m. and going until about 3 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. We have some great events being pre-planned for 2014: Hog Roasts, Reverse Raffles, Murat Shrine Circus, State Fair, parades, etc., so watch your e-mails and the Murat Shrine Magazine for details. In addition, a new Patrol Unit Murat Shrine internet page has been created this year that has our officers’ contact information and all of the other important Unit information. Our focus is fellowship and fun. So please check it out at http://www.muratshrine.org/units_clubs/muratpatrol.php.We have been lucky to have some good food to go with our refreshments in our Patrol Unit Room before and after the meeting. So come early and have some “free” food supplied by the Unit. Our Patrol Stated Meetings are the third Tuesday of each month in the Patrol Room in the basement of the Murat Shrine at 7 p.m. All members are welcome to come and enjoy the fellowship and fun with your current friends and meet some new ones. Also, if you know of anyone who would like to or should be a Patrol member, bring them to the meetings so they can meet us and we can meet them and get them signed up.

Merry Christmas Nobles! The Police Club experienced a good 2013.Yes, we lost some beloved members, but we gained a few new ones and we all realized that we belong to the greatest fraternal organization in the world. Please take a moment to thank outgoing PC President Bill Pike as we look forward to the leadership of Fred Golgart. A special thank-you to Illustrious Sir James N. Priest for his stewardship of our Murat Shrine. Jim has set the bar pretty high for incoming Potentate Bill Rasner. Our meetings will still be conducted on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. Please come early for the pre-meeting dinner and fellowship. The holiday season is upon us, and let’s make the most of it as it is better to give than receive. Let’s all be thankful for family and friends and feel comfort in knowing that as Shriners we are changing children’s lives. Plan now to bring a Mason into the Shrine and into the Police Club. Membership will again be the focus next year. Happy Holidays to all and please stay safe. Oh, almost forgot, Mr. Bond is looking for Huffy snow tires! Please take the time to read this magazine cover to cover and if I don’t see you before, I will see you on the first Tuesday. 13

This Club has endeavored since its beginning nearly 70 years ago to support Shriners Hospitals for Children; in fact, it has been recognized by Tampa for its fundraising activities. However, our efforts have never been limited to one need. This past August, as has been done for nearly 40 years, Stone Belt Shrine Club nobles and their ladies hosted a “picnic” for the residents of the various group homes associated with Stone Belt Rehab Center. This organization is a notfor- profit located in Bloomington which provides education and resources to people with developmental disabilities striving for the right to self-determination to allow those individuals and their families to fully participate in the life of the community. Our “picnics” have featured a fish fry, Bingo games (everyone wins), karaoke, clowns and even a magician. Additional color has been provided by fire engines, our Hillbilly Truck, race cars and motorcycles. This year we entertained 118 residents, not including their caretakers. On September 30, Stone Belt Rehab held its annual Awards Banquet during which they recognized the achievements of their residents and employees. This year, with the assistance of Bloomington Mayor Mark Kruzan, our Club was presented with a Community Partner Award in recognition of our “ongoing support and involvement.” THE MURAT MAGAZINE
Murat Shriners Business Connection As 2013 winds down, we are looking forward to 2014 and getting to know our new members and helping one another in our related business ventures. We are looking forward to having our Christmas get-together in lieu of our December Stated Meeting and are excited about our initiatives to recruit new Masons and Shriners to MSBC in 2014. In addition, we are looking to add more opportunities to network in addition to our monthly Stated Meeting. If you are a Shriner, longtime member or newly inducted and have an interest, give us a call to learn more about what we do. Please contact Steve Zuhlke at (317) 281-1951 or Chris Kinsey at (317) 374-5286. Scholarship Spotlight – Sara Christenson In addition to our networking and business relationship building, our group has a Scholarship Award Program (SAP) that awards $1,000 college scholarships to past/ current patients of Shriners Hospitals. We awarded four former Shriners Hospitals’ patients $1,000 scholarships last month. One of our winning recipients is Sara Christenson; she was awarded the Scottish Rite Foundation scholarship. Congratulations to Sara and her family! She is currently attending Miami of Ohio University and is scheduled to graduate in 2015. I had a chance to catch up with Sara recently last month and she gave me an update on how she was doing. program and needless to say, she is a busy young lady, especially visiting area hospitals as part of her curriculum. Sara was a burn victim at 9 months old and was a patient at the Cincinnati Shriners Hospital. She continues to receive treatment at the Cincinnati hospital. Sara expressed her gratitude for MSBC and the scholarship program and was particularly grateful for Don Richards and his involvement in the scholarship application and award process. She was especially thankful for the warm welcomes he extended to her and her family when she visited Indy. When she learned of his passing a few months ago, she was understandably saddened, knowing that Don will not be the one presenting the scholarship to her. She definitely wanted to pass on to Don’s family and friends her condolences and her gratitude for all he did for the scholarship program. Sara is not only a patient, but is also very involved with the Cincinnati hospital regarding outreach and fundraising efforts and has been an outstanding steward for Shriners Hospitals. Sara’s life has been touched in a tremendously positive way by Shriners Hospitals, but I think I can speak for all Shriners that she has had an even greater positive impact on US! We appreciate you Sara, and we wish you the best in your future endeavors!

Band

Happy Holidays from the Murat Shrine Band! As we enter this festive season and the end of the year, we look back at a year of ups and downs. The ups were, to name just a few, our new officers, the circus, several concerts, Imperial, and our picnic. The downs were the loss of our director and president, Noble Ray Hauser, and recently one of our fine trumpeters, Noble Tim Decker. Tim was a relatively new member of the Band, joining in 2010, but made his
presence felt almost immediately. His talent stood tall, but his attitude was what stood out. Both nobles will be sorely missed by us all. As of this writing, we will be playing at the annual Kids’ Christmas Party and that’s always a lot of fun. Then we have our annual business meeting and elections as we close out the year and prepare for the new one coming in.We have gotten a couple of new members of late but a Band is always a work in
progress, so dust off that old horn in the closet, oil the valves, and come have a good time making music and serving Shrinedom with us. We rehearse at the Murat on Wednesday at 7 p.m. with several of us having dinner earlier in the Oasis. Come on down and see what pleasure and reward can really be. Again, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Band.

Murat Cast Your wonderful Murat Cast had its latest ceremonial on Saturday, October 19, under the direction of Dramatic Directors Terry Sanders and Robert G. James, Jr. after which 18 individuals found themselves invested in the greatest brotherhood in North America—your Shriners International. We thank Terry and Bob for their extraordinary efforts and another successful event. Remember, you too can be a part of

Dave Pencak the ensemble that portrays your Shrine in the best possible light. Come join us on the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. for dinner and meeting to follow. On December 11, 2013, your Cast will have its annual Christmas Dinner. This year we again meet at Bynum’s Steakhouse located at 3850 S. Meridian St.The people at Bynum’s were so accommodating last year with lastminute attendees and other details,
all felt that a repeat performance and attendance was indicated. Also, at this time, new officers were invested with their respective offices. Don’t forget our upcoming events: The Cast’s Sweetheart Party (where we recognize and celebrate our better halves) is tentatively set for February 12, 2014, and our annual Brass Hat will be Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Stay tuned for information on the intended recipient.

Merry Christmas from the Legion of Honor Well, the Yuletide season is upon us and as usual, I’m not ready. It is a fun time of year, though, with all the hustle and bustle, Christmas shopping, parties, etc. Somehow we all manage to get through it every year. Back on September 26, some of our guys, including several from our Madison County Shrine Club platoon, visited the Marion, IN, VA hospital to call on the patients and pass out T-shirts and coupon books. I could not attend, but I heard it was very successful. At our October Stated Meeting, we decided to make the Marion facility one of our yearly hospital visits. The other will still be the VA hospital here in Indianapolis. Speaking of that, our next visit will be to the Veterans hospital here in Indy on December 17, where we will pass out socks and quarters and again visit with some of the patients. These trips are very rewarding for our members, and our ladies are welcome as well. On October 19, the temple held an open ceremonial to welcome several new nobles to the “World’s Greatest Fraternity.”As usual, the Legion of Honor Color Guard was on hand to present colors and get things started. To all those new nobles who are military veterans, I have a message for you. If you have not yet decided on which Club or Unit to get involved with, may I suggest you consider the Legion of Honor. If you want to rekindle that feeling of comradeship and duty, the Legion of Honor just might be the ticket for you. We meet on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the temple. The meeting starts at 1900 hours but most of us meet in the Oasis Lounge around 1700 hours, have dinner and swap lies—I mean stories. Drop by some meeting night and we will be more than happy to fill you in on what we are all about. Next month we will hold our annual installation dinner, scheduled for January 11 at the Sahara Grotto, 7620 Madison Ave.There we will install our elected and appointed officers for 2014. Our commander-elect, Bob Sexton, is chomping at the bit to take the reins and see what kind of mischief he can get us into next year. Well gang, it’s time for me to scoot on outta here, but before I go, I just want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Until next month, and next year, remember,“It’s an honor to belong to the Legion of Honor.”

The East-West Shrine Game: Furthering a Mission Since 1925 The East-West Shrine Game® is the longest running college all-star game in the country. A staple in college football since 1925, the game has consistently proven to be a launch pad for players seeking professional careers in the NFL. More than 100 players from the 88th East-West Shrine Game signed with professional football teams in 2013. On average, more than 275 EastWest Shrine Game alumni are on NFL rosters each year. The game provides a crucial platform for college athletes to demonstrate their ability to play at the next level. The game’s Executive Director and former NFL coach, Harold Richardson, is confident in the game’s exposure to the appropriate decision makers. “With all 32 NFL teams represented by GMs, coaches and scouts during the week of the game, our players have the terrific opportunity to showcase their talents and get their first glimpse of the NFL.”
to a Shriners Hospital, which gives the players the opportunity to witness firsthand the true purpose of the game. “Going to the hospital was a very humbling experience,” said 2013 East-West Shrine Game alumni and newly signed Baltimore Raven, Trent Steelman. “Those kids have more courage and tenacity than any football player I know; and that I will never forget.” The 89th annual East-West Shrine Game will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. The game will be broadcast live on NFL Network with a kickoff time of 4 p.m. EST. To learn more about the East-West Shrine Game and to order tickets and ticket packages, please visit shrinegame.com.
Since the very first players secured their helmets and laced up their cleats in San Francisco’s Ewing Field nearly 90 years ago at the very first East-West Shrine Game, 71 former East-West Shrine Game alumni have been honored with induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and more than 200 into the College Football Hall of Fame. Many of the NFL’s most recognized and decorated athletes, including Tom Brady, Brett Favre and John Elway, all started on the East-West gridiron. Supporting a Mission In addition to serving as one of the NFL’s primary sources for eligible players, the game benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children®, and helps support its mission of providing expert care to children in need, conducting innovative research and offering educational opportunities to medical professionals.
