Tanzania Tourist Board to develop Golf Tourism To conduct road show in Mumbai for agents in September 2010 By TBM Staff | Mumbai
Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) is developing Golf Tourism and is planning to create special Golf Tourism packages for all their markets. The packages are aimed at attracting the corporate travelers and increase the product portfolio of the destination to boost MICE traffic. “We have six nine-hole golf courses in Arusha and a 18-hole golf course is under development in the city, which will be ready by June next year,” informed Jilesh H Babla, Director, Akqua Tourism & Destinations Pvt Ltd. The company is assisting the Tanzania Tourist Board in promoting and marketing Tanzania Tourism Attractions in India since June last year. Babla also stated that we are working on using the private polo ground in Arusha for tourism by organizing exhibition matches and also developing training sessions for enthusiasts. “We will combine a day or two of polo training with the coastal itineraries,” stated Babla.
Other recent developments include starting of night safaris at Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks. Hot air balloon safaris, which are very popular draw at Serengeti National Park, will also be offered at Lake Manyara National Park. “Along with safaris and beaches we want to promote Tanzania as an Adventure and Cultural tourism destination,” informed Babla. According to Babla, the target in India is FIT and honeymoon segments, as well as the corporate sector for MICE.
“Our marketing strategy for India is more on a B2B level and the focus is on creating awareness and educating the travel trade,” stated Babla. He informed that TTB will organize a road show in Mumbai for agents in September 2010 with 10-15 suppliers from Tanzania. A promotional event in the form of a food festival with Tanzanian chefs and dancers is also planned for September and also a FAM trip for agents. A FAM for group of film producers and directors to showcase Tanzania as a location for film shoots is also on the cards. “We are also conducting special exclusive workshops for staff of major tour operators. We recently conducted one for Travel Masters India Corporation in Chennai and plan to organize three such workshops in a year,” stated Babla.
