!
4. Position floor jack under arm. You need to keep the tension off the bolt so you can remove it and disconnect the arm.!
! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
5.Remove bolt attaching arm to brake housing. Lower jack to extend spring, and lower the arm. Press down on the arm to loosen tension on the spring. Pull spring out - it’s easiest to pull it from the bottom first.!
! ! ! !
I took this opportunity to mark the old spring for orientation - I placed a mark at the bottom of the spring.!
! ! !
6. Remove old lower spring rubber seat and throw away. You will need to install a new lower spring seat - the old ones aren’t reusable as you can see.!

9. As you discovered when you pulled the spring out, there is also an upper spring seat. They are rubber and usually in decent condition. Mine were reusable. If yours are reusable (likely), this is a good time to clean it. I also applied some silicone to lubricate spring contact areas.!

Installation reverse of removal. You may find the floor jack helpful to get the arm back up and in position to you can reattach the bolt to hold the arm in place.!
