How School Principals Get Their Work Done: A Preliminary Study A research project supported by the UBC Hampton Award is currently seeking public school principals and vice-principals in the Metro Vancouver area to participate in a one-time face-to-face interview for approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, on principals’ work. This project is designed to help understand how school principals get their work done, what challenges and risks they have, what perceptions they have on educational polices and practices, and what strategies and skills they use to meet policy mandates. The interview will be conducted at a time and location of your choice with the anonymity of schools and participants guaranteed following UBC Behavioural Research Ethics Board guidelines. If you are interested in participating, please contact Dr. Fei Wang [email protected] or call 604-822-4552.

The course work contains a blend of research and practical application that creates an essential understanding of what principals and vice-principals need to know and how to accomplish it. Participants are immersed in the realities of school administration and given the knowledge, skills, and strategies needed in their new roles. President Gordon Li shares his week ... as seen on Twitter

2014 — 2015 Board of Directors

B

efore starting my term as BCPVPA, President I was a Twitter sitter — that is, I had an account but I used it less frequently than many of my colleagues. Since becoming President I have found Twitter to be increasingly useful. I regularly Tweet from meetings where I am representing public school principals and vice-principals and/or advocating on their behalf. Twitter has also become my go-to app for sharing information about Chapter visits. Over the past week I visited Gulf Islands, Revelstoke and Kamloops/Thompson. A rundown of the week, along with pictures, can be seen on my Twitter feed (https://www.twitter.com/principalgli) I hope you will follow on future Chapter visits and I encourage you to follow the Association’s Twitter account as well (https:www.twitter.com/bcpvpa). My thanks to all the members I met over this past week. I am honoured to work on your behalf.
