Spice up your Summer

Bass Lake Catfish Tournament

If you are tired of seeing the snowflake on the weather app of your cell phone, dealing with school closures and make-up days, or just tired of being inside, the Parks and Recreation Department has several options to get you ready for warmer weather. In this edition of HURRAHS, there is a plethora of new classes, cultural programs, and outdoor events to get everyone in your family active. At Bass Lake, children can test their accuracy and team skills with two exciting nerf programs. Nerf Night combines precision challenges and group rivalries to thoroughly test a child’s nerf prowess. Nerf Battle emphasizes team-work and competition, which will keep kids active for a full two hours. Limited spots are available for both programs. Bass Lake is also offering bass and catfish tournaments for anglers of all ages this August. The Cultural Center has also expanded their programs to satisfy multiple requests for more teenage and adult programming. Adult Art and Art Journaling classes will be offered all summer long to satisfy this overwhelming demand. For children, the Spotlight Theatre will be producing Robin Hood: The Musical this summer and The Dracula Rock Concert in August. Auditions for Robin Hood: The Musical will begin in early May and The Dracula Rock Concert tryouts begin in late August. The Hunt Center is increasing its level of service by offering several new, group exercise formats. Zumba Strong is a high-energy combination of Zumba and body weight training, and Pound-Low Impact is a music-based class, which utilizes drumstick equipment to work an individual’s endurance and core. Both of these group exercise classes are included with all daily, monthly, and yearly fitness memberships. The Hunt Center is also offering a Zumba kids program, as well as a six-week Fit Families class, which encourages parents and children to exercise and play games together. To celebrate the nation’s birthday, bring your entire family to Sugg Farm on July 5th to enjoy a patriotic festival. This free event will feature the All Veterans Parachute Team and a spectacular fireworks display for all to enjoy. From programs to entertainment, the Holly Springs P&R Department has you covered For All the Ways You Play. Adam Huffman

Leslie’s experienced instruction in many elements of funk and pop will appeal to students interested in a wide rage of jazz styles. In fact, this course lays the groundwork for control and coordination essential to the building of today’s modern jazz dancer.
