In May 2001, the Hong Kong Computer Society introduced the ICDL to Hong Kong, and the launching ceremony was officiated by Mrs. Carrie Yau, Secretary for Information Technology and Broadcasting HKSAR Government.
ICDL@Hong Kong/Macau In Hong Kong: The Faculty of Medicine (CUHK) has included ICDL as a mandatory subject in its curriculum, all first year Medicine undergraduate students MUST take the ICDL Students admitted in 2004-2005 and thereafter, who have taken and passed the ICDL examinations will be given exemption from the CUHK IT Proficiency Test upon application
