CASE STUDY

iAdvize: Reducing Latency And Increasing Global Presence Customer service has always been a key part of building and maintaining a business. With recent technology advances, companies of all sizes can connect with their customers and better serve them 24/7, retaining revenue and increasing brand loyalty. While the average conversion on an ecommerce site is 2%, that rate increases to 20% when the site visitor engages in live online support. Providing that support quickly and efficiently is a must for those that rely upon their website to be a revenue generator. France-based company iAdvize is continuing to build that e-bridge between company and customer through their instant online Customer Relationship solution (Click to Chat, Click to Call, Click to Video), associated with a behavioral targeting engine. Over 1,000 companies such as Sony, AirFrance, Boulanger, Monster, Europcar, and MonoPrix trust iAdvize to increase their online conversion rate and optimize client retention and satisfaction. As a startup, iAdvize found themselves in a familiar position: needing to provide the best level of services for the clients trusting them. If their online client connection portals slowed or suddenly became unavailable, their customers’ customers would become frustrated – a situation online service providers want to avoid at all costs. In the fall of 2013, CTO Jonathan Gueron knew that he needed a better option to ensure maximum uptime for iAdvize’s product line. As one of the few at his company that understood DNS traffic management, it fell on his shoulders to handle. However, he had many other tasks he needed to complete, so keeping DNS management in house wasn’t a scalable option and his provider at the time was frustrating to work with. Gueron was considering using his content delivery network (CDN) provider for DNS, but met up with Dyn at a Paris trade show and began the important conversation about not having all of your uptime eggs in one basket.

CASE STUDY The Dyn Difference iAdvize came onto the Dyn Managed DNS platform and immediately began to see improvements that helped workflow and website performance. With prior providers, they had to wait for propagation to their secondary DNS and then wait for changes to appear for the general public. They were able to cut down their previous TTL (timeto-live) from the 24 hours they had with their previous provider to 60 minutes with Dyn. “One of the reasons that we wanted to move to a managed DNS provider was the reduction in time for DNS queries. Before coming to Dyn, it took 200 milliseconds for lookups,” Gueron said “After Dyn, we reduced that by 80%.”

key wins:

This was especially important as their Click to Chat relies on fast performance, which can affect client websites if there are DNS performance issues.

Cut down TTL from 24 hours to 60 minutes

In addition to the reduction in latency, Gueron said the ability to fully manage domains through Dyn’s interface was key. iAdvize wanted more opportunities and options to scale their Internet infrastructure and use different providers for whatever their needs require.

Reduced latency by 80% with Dyn

The Future Iadvize recently made the move to a globally distributed infrastructure set up to improve their performance in the USA and Asia. Instead of spending time and resources building data centers in these regions, they decided to use Dyn’s geographic load balancing service, Traffic Director, which enables them to send their traffic coming from America and Asia to their global CDN, while their European traffic is sent to their data center in France. With Dyn, iAdvize can rely on a very fast and reliable global anycast network to scale faster and improve their customers’ customers satisfaction globally without having to worry about their infrastructure. “We needed a DNS partner we could rely upon so we could continue to grow iAdvize,” Gueron said. “I’m glad Dyn is that partner.”
