Main purpose of the position To assist in strengthening the integration of gender considerations in agricultural researchfor-development initiatives in the dryland systems of Morocco that is related to promoting sustainable intensification in promising areas and resilient livelihoods in marginal areas.

Main responsibilities
Conduct research on gender in agriculture (relations, norms, and polices) as well as identify and test options for improvement Assist in linking gender issues with innovation platforms, value chains, equitable access to resources, and in challenging of broader social, cultural, and policy factors Conduct in-depth interviews and focus groups, as well as workshops, with farmers (of both genders, different generations, and various educational and social backgrounds) and officials (at government’s, NGOs’, and development agencies’ offices). Travel to remote areas to meet with local groups Analyze data and information and write field notes, and observations and data, research reports and contribute to publications Take decisions, based on policy, established process, precedents, or common sense.
Education, qualifications and experience
MSc degree in social, gender, or related development studies with a strong focus on gender issues Sound understanding of gendered roles, relations, limitations, and opportunities in Morocco Good understanding of policies and practices related to agriculture in Morocco Proven ability to build effective relationships with participants Experience in conducting ethnographic methods (e.g., participant observation, longterm interactions with stakeholders), PRA, and RRA is an asset 4-5 years field experience in the subject of social science research or development. Good language skills in English, Arabic, and French Basic managerial skills on issues related to the functions of the position Demonstrated ability to execute analysis of data, and research and development problems to foresee feasibility of the options and possible courses of action.

Demonstrated capacity to take decisions on about work processes how to do rather than what to do. Ability to understand and execute work plans, instructions or manuals. Basic skill in using windows Operating system, Lan, internet Sufficient competency on computer software use of word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and e-mail; Basic knowledge of statistical concepts and applications of basic software. Ability to perform frequent contacts with partners, maintain good relationships with partners who are outside the immediate colleagues. Ability to communicate and relate effectively. Ability to maintain cooperation and commitment of individuals or small groups or project teams.
Terms of appointment, salary and benefits The initial contract will be for three years, of which the first year will be probationary period. Subsequent employment is decided based on the merit and productivity of the staff member, and continued need for the position.
