Edward LeRoy Burns was born on June 11, 1941, to Vio‐ let (Rossow) and Lemuel Roy Burns of Cartwright, ND. Ed grew up on the family farm/ranch and attended school through the 8th grade at Green School, a one‐room school house near the family residence. After graduating from the 8th grade, Ed attended high school in Sidney, MT and gradu‐ ated with the class of 1959. Just prior to graduating, Ed be‐ gan farming/ranching at his own place, the Burns OH Ranch, approximately seven miles from his family’s ranch. Ed was united in marriage to Alma Lenington in Ft. Ben‐ ton, MT, on December 27th, 1960. They worked together on the ranch, where they raised two sons. Ed and Alma were devoted to one another, as well as their boys, and enjoyed many happy years together as a family. Ed was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Sidney, and attended their meetings regularly. He was a pilot and owned his own plane, which he enjoyed for several years. Ed also enjoyed his many friends and acquaintances and loved nothing more than telling stories, visiting and joking every chance he got. Ed served on the Horse Creek School Board, and was a member of the North Dakota Cattleman’s Association. Ed passed into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, Decem‐ ber 6th, 2008, at the Sidney Health Center in Sidney, Mon‐ tana. Ed is survived by his son, Jerry, Cartwright, ND; mother, Violet Burns, Sidney, MT; sister, Cathy Ruegamer, Billings, MT; nephews, Daniel Hart, Cartwright, ND, and Bruce Hart, Lolo, MT; and niece, Tana Ruegamer, Boston, MA. Ed was preceded in death by his son, Von; father, Roy Burns; wife, Alma; and sister, Irene Hart.
