Indian Music through Whole Class Ensemble Teaching

Latest news:

Darbar Arts Culture Heritage Trust launches exciting new Indian music teaching for Key Stage 2 classes and beyond in Leicestershire and Leicester. Darbar are Leicester-Shire Music Education Hubs’ specialist Indian music partner that will be offering classes from September 2013. This is in line with the government’s National Plan for Music Education whose ambition is that every child should have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument through whole class ensemble teaching (WCET).

What

Indian Music Experience: our pioneering year long holistic Indian music course based on the timeless classical tradition of Indian music that dates back to thousands of years but still offers plenty for contemporary musicians and listeners. Across the three terms of the year we will cover Indian singing, sitar and tabla plus many more instruments. Individual disciplines: We can teach Indian music through 3 disciplines: tabla, sitar andIndian singing classes taught by our expert Indian music teachers.

Outcomes

At the end of each term students will have developed the confidence to deliver at least 2 performances, including a performance to peers and parents in school and a larger scale concert. Through our teaching programme children will learn attributes that come with learning to sing or playing an instrument such as confidence, exploration of diverse instruments, improvisation, yoga postures and much more.
