PLE-01 Monocyte HLA-DR expression, neutrophil oxidative burst capacity and cytokine analysis in patients with decompensated cirrhosis with and without acute-on-chronic liver failure Sandeep Satsangi, Ajay Duseja, Meenakshi Sachdeva, Shallu Tomer, Sunil Arora, Sunil Taneja, Radha K Dhiman, Yogesh K Chawla Departments of Hepatology, and Immunopathology, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh 160 012, India Introduction Patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) are at increased risk of infection due to a dysregulated immune response. Comparative data on presence of such Bimmune-paresis^ in patients with ACLF and decompensated cirrhosis without ACLF is not available. Aim of the present study was to compare the immunological functions in patients with decompensated cirrhosis with and without ACLF. Methodology In a prospective study, 96 patients with decompensated cirrhosis with (n=38, males=35) and without (n = 38, males=29). ACLF were evaluated for monocyte HLA-DR expression, neutrophil oxidative burst (NOB) activity and serum cytokines. The diagnosis of ACLF was made as per APASL definition and grades of ACLF were assessed as per CANONIC study. Patients with evidence of recent infection/sepsis (
