Overview

SAP BusinessObjects Dashboard Design bridges the gap between data analysis and visual presentations, empowering users to create interactive reports and applications. The Dashboard Design Component SDK enables Adobe Flex developers to create, package, distribute and install add-ons for Dashboard Design. For more information on using the Dashboard Design Component SDK, see the SAP BusinessObjects Dashboard Design Component SDK Guide. Files installed as part of the Dashboard Design Component SDK The files that are installed (by default to C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Xcelsius\SDK) include: • Packager.exe The Dashboard Design Add-On Packager. •

AddOnMgr_CL.exe The command-line version of Add-On Manager.

Overview

1.1 Install Adobe Flex Builder Download the Adobe Flex Builder installer, available from: http://www.adobe.com/flex. Note: For additional pre-requisites and requirements for installing Adobe Flex Builder, refer to the Adobe documentation. 1. 2. 3. 4.

Double-click the Adobe Flex Builder installer and follow the installation steps. Download the latest updates for Adobe Flex Builder. Start Adobe Flex Builder. Select Help > Software Updates > Find and install.

5. Select Search for updates of the currently installed features. 6. Click Finish. 7. Follow the on-screen prompts to download and install any available updates for Adobe Flex Builder . Adobe Flex Builder 3.0.0 or later has been installed.

1.1.1 Using Adobe Flex Builder 3 If Adobe Flex Builder 3 is used, make sure you are using Flex SDK 2.0.1 Hotfix 3. When creating a visual component using the Dashboard Design Default Property Sheet, you must include additional metadata for use with the property sheet. For more information, see the SAP BusinessObjects Dashboard Design Component SDK Guide.

1.2 Install Dashboard Design Component SDK Framework for Adobe Flex • • •

The Dashboard Design Component SDK is installed. For more information about installing the Component SDK, see the SAP BusinessObjects Dashboard Design Install Guide Adobe Flex Builder 3 is installed. Locate xcelsiusframework.swc. (installed as part of the Dashboard Design Component SDK installation). The default location is: C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Xcelsius\SDK\bin\xcelsiusframework.swc.

Overview

Copy the Dashboard Design Component SDK Framework into the Adobe Flex SDK library path, so you can use relative paths to include the Dashboard Design Component SDK Framework (xcelsiusframe work.swc) in your Flex projects. The framework file contains the compiled version of the Dashboard Design Component SDK. 1. Locate the Adobe Flex SDK framework library folder: /frameworks/libs For example: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\sdks\2.0.1\frameworks\libs 2. Copy xcelsiusframework.swc to the Adobe Flex SDK framework library folder: /frameworks/libs For example: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\sdks\2.0.1\frameworks\libs The Dashboard Design Component SDK Framework has been copied into the Adobe Flex SDK library path.

1.3 Install Apache Ant for Adobe Flex Builder •

Adobe Flex Builder is installed.

Install Apache Ant for Flex Builder. Note: In Adobe Flex Builder 3, when you export a Release Build of your Adobe Flex project, the metadata required by the Dashboard Design Default Property Sheet is removed. If you want to use the Dashboard Design Default Property Sheet, you must either use the debug version of your component SWF or build the release version of your SWF using the MXML command-line compiler. For more information about using the MXML command-line compiler, refer to the SAP BusinessObjects Dashboard Design Component SDK Guide. To use Apache Ant (and create your own build file), you can integrate Apache Ant into Adobe Flex Builder. Using Apache Ant is not required when developing components for Dashboard Design. Adobe Flex Builder is based on Eclipse. You can download and install Apache Ant with the Eclipse Java Development Tools. 1. Start Adobe Flex Builder. 2. Select Help > Software Updates > Find and install. 3. Select Search for new features to install. 4. Click Next. 5. Select Eclipse Project Updates. 6. Click Finish. 7. Expand the tree and select Eclipse Java Development Tools. 8. Click Next. 9. Accept the license agreement. 10. Click Next. 11. Click Finish to start downloading the Eclipse Java Development Tools.

Wait until Eclipse has downloaded the Eclipse Java Development Tools. 12. Click Install All to install the Eclipse Java Development Tools. 13. When you are asked if you want to restart, click Yes. Adobe Flex Builder restarts. Apache Ant for Adobe Flex Builder is installed.
