Bachelor of Science -Management Introduction to Communication COM122

Course description Introduction to Communication is designed to provide students with an overview of the field of communication and opportunities to improve their communication skills through experience. All the assignments and classroom activities are designed to enable students to work together to meet these goals. By the end of the semester, students should be familiar with the ways communication studies apply to their proposed career. They should also improve their written and oral communication skills through discussing and writing about the topics covered in the text and through researching the ways they will use communication skills in their proposed career. OBJECTIVES To explain the framework of both business and social communication To discuss the importance of interpersonal communication in the workplace To provide students with knowledge of verbal and non-verbal communication To sharpen group-work and teamwork skills To guide on creating communication climate for their future career

Active participation Students are expected to take an active role in the discussions and other activities planned for each class. How frequently and actively you contribute to discussions in class will count towards your final score for the course. The relevance of the ideas you raise in class will be noticed as well. Please note that attendance does not count toward active participation Midterm Exam The midterm exam will be conducted in the form of group presentation. You will have to research on your assigned topics in order to present in class. Final Exam The final exam will be conducted in the form of group presentation. You are required to present about an assigned topic you have worked out in your team.
