Amendment 3 This amendment is issued to answer questions from bidders. The solicitation closing date has been extended. The new closing date is March 31 at 2 PM. Q8.

Section 31 24 13 1.3.3.1 states “Unit Price Item 3c – Roadway Embankments – Waste Excavation (off-site disposal)” and shall include cost of excavating, hauling, and offsite disposal of the material, in an environmentally responsible manner, or stockpiling of the material within Waterton Lakes National Park if directed by the department representative”. Is disposing of the waste material going to be allowed within the Park? For the purpose of bidding the Contractor shall assume offsite disposal outside of the Park for all waste excavation material. Section 31 37 00 Part 2.1.3 states “Field stone will not be accepted”. Does this mean that the Rip Rap must be produced from shot rock? All Rip Rap material is to be produced from shot / blast rock.
Q10. Section 32 12 16 Part 2.1.3 states “The use of a Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) is not permitted for this project”. Does this clause prevent the use of shingles or other asphalt pavement additives for the project? A10. The use of asphalt shingles or other asphalt pavement additives will not be permitted. The use of anti-stripping agents will be permitted if required and approved by the Departmental Representative. Q11. The Asphalt spec for this work is AT 3.50 H1. The latest AT spec, Edition 15 2013 has the aggregate top size for H1 as 16mm however the most recent tenders have come out with a change allowing a 12.5 mm top size. Please reference the attached spec amendment 5.1 that changes the H1 to 12.5 mm top size. A11. H1 Asphalt concrete pavement to be produced using AT Des. 1 – Class 16mm asphalt aggregate. The use of AT Des. 1 – Class 12.5 asphalt aggregate will not be permitted.
