iCloud Backup Instructions It is important to ensure that you have all the information on your iPad backed up prior to updating to iOS 6. Apple offers a cloud-based backup service called “iCloud” that allows you to backup the information stored on your iPad to a remote server. Anytime you upgrade the operating system on the iPad there is a risk, however small, for data loss; by backing all your information up to iCloud, you can easily recover files should you experience any issues with the update. If you’ve never set up iCloud for backing up, the images below will help walk you through the process. If you have already configured iCloud to backup your iPad, please skip ahead to the “Downloading iOS 6 Instructions” section of this document.

Step 1 - Open Settings application on your iPad and select iCloud from the left margin Step 2 - Sign in with your Apple ID username and password

Step 3 - Allow iCloud to Use the Location of Your iPad. This will help you locate your iPad should you ever misplace it and it allows you to track your iPad using “Find My iPad” service through iCloud.

Step 4 - Once you’ve signed in with your Apple ID and allowed iCloud to use the location of your iPad, Tap on the “Storage & Backup” section to configure iCloud Backup.

Step 5 - Turn the switch to the “on” position to backup to iCloud. Then, tap “OK” to start to backup to iCloud.
