1. Does the International Student Desk offer Italian language courses for exchange students? Yes, the International Student Desk offers an Italian Language Crash Course, scheduled before the beginning of Bocconi courses, and an Italian Follow-Up Course, scheduled throughout the semester. Details are available at: www.ir.unibocconi.eu/itacourse 2. How can I apply for the Italian Language courses? Exchange students can apply for the Language Courses during the Online Application, available in the following periods: Fall semester mid May – end of May Spring semester end of October – mid November The Online Application can be accessed in the above mentioned periods ONLY, at: www.ir.unibocconi.eu/exchangeapplication 3. Can I register for the Italian Follow-Up Course only? No, only students that register for, attend and pass the beginner, pre-elementary, elementary and pre-intermediate levels of the Italian Language Crash Course are eligible for the Italian Follow-Up Course. 4. When do the Italian Courses start? 8. Can I cancel my registration for the Italian Courses? Yes, requests to cancel an online registration for the Italian Language courses must be sent by e-mail to:
[email protected] by the cancellation deadline. You can check the cancellation deadline of your semester at www.ir.unibocconi.eu/calendar. 9. Do I get a refund if I cancel my registration for the Italian Courses? If the email requesting to cancel an online registration is sent by the cancellation deadline, the registration fee will be refunded in full. The refund will be arranged by cash upon arrival while those students who will withdraw from the exchange program will be refunded by bank transfer. 10. How do I know which level I am in? All exchange students wishing to take the course will be required to take a placement test when completing the on-line application (once selected for the exchange program). According to the result of their placement test they will be placed in a corresponding level. The level will be finalized the first day of class. 11. Can I change my level? Students might be able to switch the Italian Crash Course level upon arrival by discussing directly with the Italian Language teacher, in case the student’s knowledge of Italian has improved after the placement test or the level is not suitable for the student. 12. What happens if I do not attend the first days of classes? Late arrivals are counted on the total number of absences. Students arriving later than 3 lessons after the beginning of classes will no longer be admitted to participate in the course (NO refund available). 13. Will I receive a grade for the Italian language courses? The Italian Crash course and the Follow-Up courses are optional, extra-curricular courses, and therefore will not be included in a student’s study plan or official transcripts, and credits will not be awarded. 14. Will I get a certificate for the Italian Courses? Bocconi will issue a certificate of attendance in which an overall evaluation (pass, fair, good, excellent) will be reported. The certificate will be issued to students who attend a minimum of 75% of the course and pass the final test . 15. Are Bocconi Italian Language Courses EILC Language Courses? No, Bocconi Italian language courses are not EILC (Erasmus Intensive Language Courses) courses.
