Processional As the children walk into the performance area, the piano/keyboard/organ plays “We Praise You, Jesus, at Your Birth” (LSB 382).

Invocation Prayer Lord God, gracious Father, who in the fullness of time sent Your Son to become man, to assume human flesh like ours, we thank You for Your truth and Your fatherly goodness in giving us this Savior. By His birth, death, and resurrection, we are delivered from sin, death, Satan, and hell. Keep us until the end in true knowledge of our Redeemer that, with the holy angels, we may rejoice at His nativity and, on the Last Day, when He comes again, we may behold Him, together with You and the Holy Spirit, in glory and majesty, world without end. Amen. Jesus! Born for Us! Children sing 1. Jesus! Born for us! Alleluia! Jesus! Born for us! Alleluia! We praise You, Jesus.

Pastor or Teacher: The Christmas story is not just about the birth of Jesus—it is primarily about the reason He came: to redeem us from our sins. In the Apostles’ Creed, we confess that we believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. Our program today/tonight is about all these things! At various points of the program, THE AUDIENCE will say portions of Martin Luther’s explanation of the Second Article of the Creed. Please join your voices in these great words. Teacher:

Jesus, born for us!

Children:

Alleluia!

We Praise You, Jesus, at Your Birth (LSB 382) (All sing “Alleluia” together.) Children sing 1. We praise You, Jesus, at Your birth; (Extend arms up over head.) Clothed in flesh You came to earth. (Bring arms to sides.) The virgin bears a sinless boy (Cradle arms in front, as if holding a baby.) And all the angels sing for joy. (Point to mouth; extend pointed hands out in front of face.) Alleluia! (Wave hands in the air. Jingle bells may be played.) 2. Now in the manger we may see God’s Son from eternity, The gift from God’s eternal throne Here clothed in our poor flesh and bone. Alleluia! Adults sing (all sing “Alleluia”) 6. In poverty He came to earth Showing mercy by His birth; He makes us rich in heav’nly ways As we, like angels, sing His praise. Alleluia! 7. All this for us our God has done Granting love through His own Son. Therefore, all Christendom, rejoice And sing His praise with endless voice. Alleluia!

(Shade eyes with one hand.) (Cradle arms in front, as if holding a baby.) (Hold hands together in front, palms up and cupped.) (Fold hands over heart.) (Wave hands in the air. Jingle bells may be played.)

Audience: I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary, is my Lord. Scripture Reading: Luke 2:1–7 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. Teacher:

Jesus, born for us!

Children:

Alleluia!
