Job Description: ChangeTheWorld Program Coordinator (Part‐time Contract Position – 30 Hours/Week) ChangeTheWorld ‐ Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge Ontario Volunteer Centre Network c/o Volunteer MBC Overall Responsibilities: Responsible for coordinating communications between Ontario Volunteer Centres (VCs) and the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration & International Trade (MCIIT) for the ChangeTheWorld ‐ Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge (CTW), a partnership project between MCIIT and the Ontario Volunteer Centre Network (OVCN). Work with participating VCs by providing program support to help them meet their youth engagement targets and goals. Provide support to areas in Ontario not supported by a VC and offer extra support to emerging Volunteer Centres. Initiate a provincial strategy to promote CTW/local VC initiatives/youth engagement, and to explore sponsorships and/or partnerships to help support the campaign. Prepare a final report which highlights successes, challenges and any areas of improvement for future CTW campaigns. Specific Responsibilities: Program Coordination & Planning – Coordinate and Assist VC’s with Implementation of CTW Campaign Plan and Execution of Strategic Plan: o Conduct an environmental scan and work with participating VCs by providing program plan support to help them meet their youth engagement targets and goals for the campaign. o Provide one‐on‐one mentoring role to VCs who did not reach their goals this year. o Provide necessary outreach tools (templates of letters – update and create new ones) and provide support to: Engage youth (via the school boards, trustees, schools, youth clubs, community centres, etc.); Reach out to the participating community service organizations who can help create events; Develop and implement provincial media strategy to increase campaign awareness and branding; Inform MPP’s and local politicians to gain their support; Assist with soliciting provincial and local sponsorships for youth engagement events.

Explore potential existing large provincial events (i.e. Daffodil Month ‐ Cancer Society, Share Life, Canadian Red Cross, 30 Hour Famine, etc.) and work with VCs on local implementation strategies. o Build relationships with Ministry of Education to seek campaign endorsement to further penetrate schools. o Provide guidance to VCs with regards to youth volunteer recognition post‐campaign. Includes PREB certificates. o Work with VC’s and offer support to simplify collection of Volunteer Numbers and Hours (i.e. Volunteer Hour Tracking Tool). Marketing & Communications Support ‐ Create Marketing and Communications Plan: o Update and maintain content in contact management system (CMS) for the ChangeTheWorld website (Drupal platform). o Implement a media relations strategy to promote CTW on a provincial scale. o Monitor and maintain OVCN/CTW social media outlets on a daily basis (Twitter and Facebook). o Inform the media – templates of media releases; o Create e‐communications for VCs containing tips, ideas, media updates, etc. o
Training, Skills‐Building, and Collective Leadership: o Provide support and coordinate workshops via webinars covering various topics (i.e. story‐ telling, social media strategies, event management planning, effective marketing and communications, program/project planning, etc.). o Share past campaign learnings and approaches with the VCs (e.g. mentoring, templates, consent\release forms, etc.). o Create a plan to encourage peer‐to‐peer collaboration (VC to VC). o Manage CTW documents and key information via “The OVCN Space” (an on‐line community forum). o Manage VC‐to‐VC dialogue on the “The OVCN Space” regarding CTW Campaign operational/HR support, and marketing and communications challenges.
VC Support in Campaign Planning, Operations, Implementation and Evaluation: o Facilitate all conference calls with VCs, the OVCN and MCIIT. o Primary point contact for all VCs participating in the 2016 campaign. o Provide ongoing liaison with the local VCs, MCIIT program staff and, where required, MCIIT’s Communications Branch. o Develop and implement a communications mechanism between VCs to include emails, conference calls, OVCN website (liaise with local VCs and disseminate related information, etc.). o Create input/feedback strategy (i.e. surveys) for VCs, youth participants and event organizers and conduct a review of the results in order to evaluate the success and opportunities for improvement for future campaigns. o Create a process for impact measurement (i.e. photos, success stories, case studies, input from youth participants/event organizers, statistics, etc.).

Desired Qualifications: • Post‐secondary education: Event Management, Communications, Program/Project Management, or related training. • Demonstrated experience of working with youth groups and/or initiatives, more specifically in the not‐for‐profit sector. • Experience of working with volunteers, individuals or in a group setting, is required. • French language (written and spoken) is a definite asset. • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail, effective communication and interpersonal skills required. • Experience developing and implementing comprehensive plans and/or strategies. • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and a solid background in electronic communication tools (creating e‐newsletters). • Demonstrated experience in data analysis and the use of on‐line survey systems (i.e. Survey Monkey, etc.). • Experience with using web design tools (Content Management Systems) and social media applications (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc.). • Experience with graphic design programs (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite – PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) would be considered an asset. • 5+ years’ experience in the field of communications or program/project management. • Must be a team player and have a strong personal commitment to volunteerism. • Experience working with a provincial organization or association, is considered an asset. Contract Period: This is a part‐time contact position ending July 29, 2016.
