Position Posting Youth Outreach Program Supervisor Posted: July 20, 2017 The Boys & Girls Club Services of Greater Victoria’s mission is to provide safe, supportive places where children and youth experience opportunity, overcome barriers, develop skills, positive relationships and confidence for successfully leading their lives and communities. We provide social, recreational and developmental services to children, youth and their families that support all aspects of our mission. The Agency supports practice through a trauma informed lens, placing priority on participant safety, choice and self-determination. All Boys & Girls Club programs support participant empowerment and skill development. The Boys & Girls Club is an accredited organization under the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). The Role: Reporting to Executive Director or Designate, the Outreach Supervisor is responsible for supporting youth in our Kaare Norgaard facility with the overall goal to optimize their health and well-being and offer pro-social activities. This position will create opportunities for youth to build social and emotional competencies. It will provide youth with individual support as identified within the program/community and connect them to other community resources as required. This full time permanent position is based out of the following locations: Kaare Norgaard Club Central Saanich and Esquimalt Office. This position directly supervises the Kaare Norgaard After-school Youth Drop-in Team Lead and supports a staff team. Key duties and responsibilities include: • Oversee the planning, promotion, delivery and risk management of Youth Drop In program(s) • Act as an advocate, mentor and pro-social role model, providing guidance and brief, solution focused counselling to youth • Support the youth in developing healthy life choices • Support, train, conduct and document regular supervision with program staff to attain program objectives/oversight • Responsible for purchasing program supplies and maintaining allocated program budgets • Ensure data is maintained on data base on all participants enrolled in designated programs. Qualifications and Requirements: • Degree in Social Work or Child & Youth Care • Experience working with vulnerable youth with complex needs • Experience in community liaison/advocacy skills • Experience working directly within aboriginal communities and/or with aboriginal youth • Experience supervising and supporting a diverse range youth • Knowledge of First Nations culture- A sound knowledge of the local Aboriginal and mainstream community services/resources an asset • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team • Demonstrated preventative approach to behavior management • Strong organizational skills; ability to work flexible hours • Supervisory experience an asset • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal • Excellent computer and file management skills • Demonstrated success developing relationships with children, youth, families, and community • Class 4 driver’s license required (within probation period) Terms of Employment: • Satisfactory criminal record check • Term: August 21-ongoing • Hours: 40 hours per week (Mon & Wed 10-6pm; Tues, Thurs & Fri 1-9pm) • Compensation: $1751.20 - $1840 bi-weekly depending on qualifications • Generous vacation and benefits package includes: health, dental, vision, life insurance, critical illness insurance, healthy living bonus and training funds To Apply: Submit resume and cover letter by email only by 12pm, August 3 2017 • Only applications provided electronically will be accepted. • Email:
