Karen M. Campbell Director, JSF Radar Program Northrop Grumman As Director of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Radar Program, Ms. Campbell has responsibility for execution of the AN/APG-81 Radar Program. Ms. Campbell joined the company in 1985 as a mechanical engineer and has held a number of professional and management positions of increasing responsibility in Manufacturing and Program Management. She has worked as a manufacturing engineer, manufacturing supervisor, engineering manager, and in 1993 was appointed Manufacturing Manager of the Advanced MicroElectronics Center (AMEC). In 1999, she was appointed Operations Manager of the F-22 Radar Program. In this position, she was responsible for the successful transition of F-22 into Production, the application of Lean Manufacturing tools to reduce system lead time, and played a key role during F-22 proposals and negotiations. In 2002, she was appointed Deputy Program Manager for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Radar Program. In 2003, she was appointed Production Manager of the Wedgetail Radar Program. She was appointed to her current position in 2005. She has been responsible for all phases of development and production for customers ranging from naval to landbased to airborne to space. She has extensive experience in bare chip multichip modules and soldered and Surface Mount Technology (SMT) microwave modules. Ms. Campbell has led efforts to introduce new products and processes, such as alternate cleaning solvents and low-residue fluxes, into the manufacturing processes. She has also led continuous improvement of manufacturing processes through use of Lean Initiatives, Variability Reduction, and Statistical Process Control techniques. Ms. Campbell earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1985. Ms. Campbell is active in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), serving on the Executive Committee of the Baltimore Section. She is on the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of Central Maryland, an organization with a focus on encouraging young people to pursue higher education. She was named by the Maryland Daily Record as one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women for 2009.
