Keyboard Shortcuts Microsoft Navigation, Editing and Lotus Notes Shortcuts Why Shortcut Keys Use of keyboard shortcut keys can decrease the sustained, repetitive and awkward postures associated with mouse use. We recommend starting with just 2 or 3. Post them on your monitor (possibly on a Post-It® note) as a reminder. Once you’ve learned the first few, add 2 or 3 more, and so on. To avoid repetitive and awkward wrist and hand postures, make sure to use two hands when activating shortcut keys. Use the right hand for keys on the right half of the keyboard and the left hand for keys on the left half of the keyboard.
