Manager in Development Program First introduced in 2000, the Manager in Development (MID) was designed as a mentor/mentee program to educate entry- and mid-level managers through exposure to diverse departments within a club operation. The MID program began as the brainchild of William A. Schulz, MCM, CCE, as he developed the concept for his successful MCM monograph, Club Management Opportunities Assistant Manager Development Program. Previously, this resource was available to the club industry as a hands-on training manual, which explored core competency areas for the assistant manager or department manager and senior supervisors in the club. This new modular program is designed to take approximately two years to complete, while working under the professional guidance of a sponsoring manager/mentor and now addresses all 10 CMAA Competency areas. The program will now be presented as an online, interactive 12-module program that can be completely in its entirety, by specialization or by individual topic.
