interesting and important projects and makes it easier to find our associate offices located around the world. On October 8 we will be having a WorldView conference in conjunction with OESA (Original Equipment Suppliers Association). OESA has asked Inogen to develop and present a one day seminar to their members in Troy, Michigan, USA. The seminar will focus on the EHS requirements and emerging regulations across the world that impact the Tier 1 and 2 suppliers to the world’s automotive industry. To overcome this challenge, the ESC-SAVE team employed advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling to simulate the underground explosion impacts, which is highly uncommon for QRAs in Singapore. In CFD modeling, the 3D geometric model of the structure (in this case, the rock cavern) is produced and utilised within the software. The combined effort between ESC and SAVE was highly successful in introducing CFD modelling for QRA projects to the Singapore regulating authorities and received much positive feedback from these authorities. Building upon the JRC QRA project, ESC continued to engage SAVE to provide technical training for ESC’s QRA team through a comprehensive 3-months’ program. Together, the team collaborated on two ongoing QRAs for petrochemical process plants on Jurong Island, namely Evonik Oil Additives and Chevron Oronite. The training by SAVE has enhanced the ESC team’s technical capacity to meet the ... growing scale and demand for complexity for QRAs in Singapore. At the same time, ESC and SAVE have also launched a joint investment to explore new business development opportunities in both onshore and offshore risk assessment, harnessing ESC’s regional network and understanding of regional regulatory developments to introduce SAVE’s rich European technical expertise to new markets in the Asia-Pacific region.

“Inogen Member, Antea Group and Earth Observation in the Black Sea Catchment”

T

he Black Sea Catchment is internationally known as one of the worst examples for ecologically unsustainability and poor resource management, which has led to severe environmental, social and economic problems. The European FP7-project enviroGRIDS aimed to gather, store, distribute, analyze, visualize and disseminate crucial information regarding the environment of the Black Sea catchment. A state of the art ‘Grid-enabled Spatial Data Infrastructure’ (G-SDI) was built as a component of the ‘Global Earth Observation System of Systems’ (GEOSS) targeting the needs of the ‘Commission on the Protection of the Black Sea Against Pollution’ (BSC) and the ‘International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River’ (ICPDR). With 30 partners distributed in 15 countries, the enviroGRIDS project has contributed to the GEOSS by promoting the use of web-based services to share and process large amounts of

“Maximizing Value for Global Divestments”

R

ockwood Holdings, Inc., looking to divest their advanced ceramics business group, CeramTec, contacted Antea Group for a strategic and accelerated evaluation of the EHS status at each of their 18 facilities across 10 countries. CeramTec manufactures highperformance ceramic materials that serve automotive, electronics, industrial and medical end-markets. Due to the global scope and aggressive schedule of the project, Antea Group engaged eight (8) Inogen Associates and Global Net Members to help complete the environmental assessments and compliance audits in Brazil, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Malaysia, Mexico, Poland, South Korea, United Kingdom and United States. Each Associate brought the necessary local expertise and regulatory knowledge to identify EHS issues of material impact to asset value. At project completion, facility-specific reports were combined into one summary report that served as a

turn-key document used by Rockwood’s legal teams and prospective buyers. In June, Rockwood announced its CeramTec sale agreement with Cinven, a European private equity firm for €1.49 Billion. The transaction is expected to close third quarter 2013. “This transaction fits into Rockwood's long term strategy to create shareholder value. The people at CeramTec have been extremely successful in managing this business and they are ready for this next step in their growth,” says Mike Piacentino, Director of Environment, Safety and Risk Management, Rockwood Specialties. “The safety and environmental aspects of this transaction went smoothly due in part to Antea Group’s responsiveness in organizing the global teams to execute the project. Rockwood likes to move quickly, but speed must be coupled with accuracy and completeness. Antea Group was successful in providing us with quality reports that were extremely useful to the process within a tight timeline." “Rockwood has been a great partner client of Antea Group for over 24 years,” says Gary Wisniewski, CEO Antea Group USA. “We are proud to be their go-to resource for global

transaction support solutions and to be able to provide them with such efficient and seamless service through Inogen Environmental Alliance.” -Mike Piacentino Since project completion, Rockwood has awarded Antea Group a similar potential divestment project in Germany as a result of the responsiveness and high quality of work performed. “Inogen WorldView Conference – ‘Beyond Carbon Neutral'

D

elta-Simons, once again undertook a carbon footprinting and offsetting exercise for this year’s WorldView Conference in April 2013. The purpose of the exercise was for Inogen to mitigate the environmental impact of their annual global gathering of Associates and Clients. The latest Greenhouse Gas (GHG) conversion factors were used to calculate the total carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2eq) emissions. Using these factors it was estimated that a total of approximately 70 tonnes of CO2eq were associated with delegate travel to and from the conference. The total calculated emissions have been offset by 200% by Inogen, and therefore awarded the Delta-Simons ‘Beyond

Carbon Neutral' seal of approval. The emissions have been offset using a combination of ‘not-for-profit' verified renewable energy schemes in association with The CarbonNeutral Company and carbon sequestration in the form of UK afforestation in association with the Woodland Trust. -Roger Griffiths [email protected]
