[email protected] We are proud to focus efforts on the National Recreation & Park Association’s Three Pillars of Parks & Recreation: Conservation, Health & Wellness, and Social Equity ensuring we make a positive impact on the quality of life in Loveland. In the Conservation Pillar, our parks are critically important in preserving natural resources that have quantifiable economic benefits to our community, in addition to intrinsic environmental, aesthetic, and recreation benefits. Oftentimes, parks and recreation agencies are the only voice for ensuring that open space is protected, that our youth have access to nature-related areas, and that services and outdoor education are available.
In the Health & Wellness Pillar, our parks and recreation staff are leaders in improving & enhancing health and wellness by offering fitness, sports, and healthy lifestyle classes for people of all ages and abilities. We are actively engaged in reducing obesity, physical inactivity and poor nutrition while strengthening skills that enrich our mind, body and overall attitude.
In the Social Equity Pillar, our department embraces complete access and inclusion to park & recreation services and facilities. We strive to be a catalyst for ensuring that all residents have equal access to our resources and services, and we offer opportunities that transcend barriers of income through low income fee structure and scholarship opportunities with our Foundation. A growing 19-mile trail system provides safe recreational opportunities that are accessible to a variety of users, including those with barriers to mobility.

Chilson Center AQUA FITNESS
Aqua & Active Generation Fitness Classes Ai Chi/ Aqua Yoga*: A water-based total body strengthening,
balance and relaxation class through movement. Ai Chi focuses on deep breathing & slow movement and is designed to improve balance, flexibility & core strength. Pilates movements are used to stretch & strengthen.
Drop–In Weight Room Orientation*: Provides a walkthrough of the weight room to give you a better understanding of the setup and how to properly position yourself on our machines so that you can learn how to use the fitness equipment and cardio machines safely & effectively. Does not provide an exercise plan.
Aqua Cardio: Advanced. A moderate intensity cardiovascular class. Each session will be different with running, intervals and circuits. Modifications will be offered.
Low Impact Fitness*: Strength work, balance and coordination choreography complement the stretching & cool down. Mondays have a larger cardio component, Wednesdays prioritize strength.
Aqua Core: Learn to use slow, precise movements to increase
muscle strength and coordination. Different pieces of equipment will be used such as bands, weights, balls, etc. to help bring the physical body into balance. This class will also help with posture.
Aqua Fitness: Water exercise tones, firms, increases flexibility & muscle strength and gives your cardiovascular system the workout it needs. It takes stress off joints & muscular-skeletal system, yet works heart & lungs. Advanced level includes swim skills.
Aqua Motion*: Do you suffer from arthritis, limited range of
motion or twinges? The cushioning effect of the water takes the jarring movement out of the joints, offering an opportunity for a pain-free exercise.
Aqua Power Jog: Add cross training & variety to your workout. An alternative to Aqua Fitness or other land-based classes. Combines strength & cardiovascular exercise. Aqua Toning: Strengthen, tone & increase flexibility! Aqua Zumba®: Make a splash by adding a low-impact, high-en-
ergy aquatic exercise to your fitness routine. It blends the Zumba® philosophy with water resistance. There is less impact on your joints, and the natural resistance means every step is more challenging to help tone your muscles.
Deep Water: This class is in the deep end of the pool and is designed to improve cardiovascular and muscle strength, core and flexibility. Belts/noodles are provided for flotation. Sessions are held at Loveland High School for fall/winter/spring; summer sessions are held at Winona Pool. River Walking*: Water Walking and full body exercises including walking against the current in the Leisure Pool, Lazy River feature.
Water Walking*: Work at your own pace while walking, march-
ing, lunging and side stepping through the pool. An excellent class for those with joint replacement or who are anticipating joint replacement surgery.
* These classes are geared toward participants age 50+; however, all ages are welcome to attend.
10
Power, Agility & Strength*: Increase power, agility, strength and balance. You will become stronger and more flexible. Hand weights and some floor work are included.
Strength Training*: Improve fitness, muscle strength, bone
mass and reduce risks of osteoporosis with circuit machines & free weights. Perfect for the beginning exerciser or those who require extra help (e.g. arthritis, MS or joint replacement). Assistance is provided as you strive toward independent work outs. Please call Julie at (970) 962-2462 prior to your initial class visit or attend a fitness orientation. Must be able to ambulate/transfer independently within the environment.
Zumba Gold®*: For the active older adult and beginners of all
ages, Zumba Gold® takes the Zumba formula and modifies the moves and pacing to fit beginners and active seniors.
SS Classic*:
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is available if needed for seated or standing support.
SS Circuit*: Combine fun & fitness to increase your cardio-
vascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers ball is alternated with low-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is used for standing support, stretching and relaxation exercises.
SS Cardio*: An advanced group exercise class designed for active adults who desire a safe and effective low-impact cardiovascular workout. Energizing, easy-to-follow movements promote heart-healthy, total-body conditioning to increase cardiovascular and muscular endurance. In addition, a variety of strength training options are offered to provide a well-rounded workout. SS Yoga*: Move your whole body through a complete series
of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Breathing exercises & final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.
