Level 3 Technical Certificate in Childcare and Education Course Description: This course provides learners with knowledge with children from birth to seven years and practical experience working with children from birth to five years. This course is suited to those who are interested in a career in a nursery or primary school as well as those who are interested in continuing onto university. This course will be taken alongside BTEC Health and Social Care Level 3.
Course Topics: Students will study a range of topics which will include: Play and Learning Understanding children’s additional needs Children’s health and well being Child development from conception to seven. Observation, assessment and planning Providing safe environments for children This course involves students attending work experience in a child care setting and completing 365 hours over two years. Work experience is a key element of the course as it will give students hands on experience of working in a real life setting with qualified professionals.

Entry Requirements: You must have a passion for working with children. English and Maths is preferred but resit opportunities will be given to pupils who do not achieve them.
Students will complete the Childcare and Education Certificate over 2 years which equates to 1.5 A Levels. This will be taken alongside Health and Social Care. The combination of both courses will allow you to achieve the equivalent of 3 A Levels which will be recognised by employers and universities.
