European social entrepreneurs gather in Lisbon for SIT Impact Bootcamp European social entrepreneurs are gathered in Lisbon for a week for the first Social Innovation Tournament Impact Bootcamp, an innovative executive education programme promoted by the European Investment Bank Institute and organised in collaboration with Católica-Lisbon School of Business & Economics. Social entrepreneurs from Portugal (SPEAK, CDI Portugal, Academia de Código, ColorADD®, Leque, EKUI, Entrepreneurs’ Factory – SEA), Spain (JuntoSalimos, Koiki), Hungary (Down Egyesület, School4All), Romania (ViitorPlus – Recicleta, A.C.U. – Atelierelecreativeunite,) and Italy (Progetto QUID) are benefiting from interactive learning sessions on social innovation, model scaling, negotiation, fundraising and effective communication, alongside intensive pitching training sessions held at the Católica-Lisbon campus in Lisbon, from 4 to 11 December. The programme is aimed at projects that bring an innovative solution to a societal problem, have already been launched and validated, and are looking to scale their impact. Three team members per project can assess their project’s scaling potential and refine their scaling strategy, focusing on how to engage productively with key stakeholders in order to mobilise resources. The programme features an international faculty with expertise in social entrepreneurship. It will close with an “Investors’ Fair” where social entrepreneurs can pitch their projects to social investors. The Impact Bootcamp builds on the success of the EIB Institute’s Social Innovation Tournament (SIT), which every year recognises and supports the best European social entrepreneurs. In five years, the SIT has succeeded in creating a growing community of social entrepreneurs from 20 different countries working to combat social exclusion through more than 60 projects. Background information: The EIB Institute was set up within the EIB Group (European Investment Bank and European Investment Fund) to promote initiatives for the common good in Europe, mostly in EU Member States. This includes reducing inequalities, enhancing knowledge, innovation and competitiveness and ensuring cohesion throughout Europe. Católica-Lisbon School of Business & Economics is the leading business school in Portugal according to the Financial Times ranking that globally evaluates the performance of the top business schools in Europe. In December 2016 CatólicaLisbon launched a new Chair in Social Entrepreneurship. This programme with the EIB Institute to scale the impact of social entrepreneurs is the first initiative developed in the context of the Chair. http://institute.eib.org/
