www.collectedworks.co.uk FREELANCE VACANCY PROJECT ASSISTANT (CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE'S PROGRAMME) 20 days work between January and June 2017 (to be worked on an ad hoc basis). £80 per day based on an 8 hour day (£20,800 pro rata). Collected Works CIC seek a Project Assistant to support the Project Manager and Artistic Director with the organisation's children’s programme, consisting of Young City Reads (Jan – May) and Adopt an Author (Jan May). The role will involve a variety of admin, research, design and clerical duties. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, self-motivated arts professional looking to widen their freelance portfolio. Specific tasks will include: • Assisting the Project Manager and Artistic Director with general administrative tasks including printing and copying, relating predominantly to the children's programme • Writing content for, and managing, project blogs and specific areas of the CW website • Liaising with schools, partner organisations and venues regarding events and logistics • Creating content and designs for e-newsletters and posters • Creating content for and posting to Collected Works' social media accounts • Collecting evaluation data from audiences and collating • Contributing to project reports and evaluations • Assisting with some events in the adult programme • Additional admin and clerical tasks will be assigned as they arise during the period of the contract Essential criteria: • Demonstrable experience of working independently and managing your own work load • Demonstrable experience of working with children and young people • A voracious reader with the ability to confidently share enthusiasm for books • Strong knowledge of at least one of the following areas: book selling, publishing, literacy in education or public libraries • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written • Excellent social media skills and confidence in writing exciting copy relating to reading and books • Friendly and personable demeanour • Experience of working in events, in a front of house capacity or similar • A clear understanding of safeguarding issues when working with children and vulnerable adults Desirable: • Skills relating to Wordpress and the ability to update and edit websites through this platform • Experience of coordinating volunteers • A degree in English or an Arts subject • Strong design skills and willingness to develop in this area • Experience using an email marketing platform such as Mailchimp • An understanding of the needs of corporate sponsors and partners Please send a CV and covering letter outlining your suitability for the role against the criteria to
