Our MarketPlace Events

M

arketPlace events have been held across London and the Home Counties for over five years now. Many of our members, both providers and suppliers regard these as a ‘must’ ! So far this year, our now famous MarketPlaces have taken us to Walthamstow and Hove. We are just putting the finishing touches to our next one in Crawley on 11th September. Details are attached with this mailing. Remember, MarketPlace events are free to visitors! We hope that yet another MarketPlace will be arranged for Dorset later in the year. London Telecare MarketPlace events give suppliers an opportunity to discuss and demonstrate their products and services with providers and commissioners in a relaxed and unhurried atmosphere. Visit our website for more details of these events and much, much more: www.londontelecare.com

WALTHAM FOREST

MARKETPLACE EVENT

2013

On 21 March, LB Waltham Forest were our partners in arranging our Spring MarketPlace which took place at the impressive and cavernous Assembly Room on the site of the Walthamstow Town Hall. The great majority of the 25 suppliers, comfortably accommodated at the venue, reported making good contacts. Feedback from the 60 or so visitors was also mainly positive and our thanks go to Yvonne Palmer and her colleagues who worked to make the day a success.

“We encourage all members and their colleagues to visit these events, because there is so much to be learned from what’s available. They are simply the best way to see most of the major players under one roof, with no sales pressure or time constraints.” Doug Miles, Chair of London Telecare.

BRIGHTON & HOVE

MARKETPLACE EVENT

2013

Around 150 visiting professionals made our event at Hove Town Hall on 30 May, one of the busiest ever. Again around 25 suppliers were on hand exhibiting a large range of the latest telehealthcare technologies. In addition, we piloted quick-fire presentations in a ‘break-out’ room and ten presenters braved this new innovation at these events. Well they did ask for them!! To see many more pictures go to www.londontelecare.com/gallery.asp

“ Thank you for bringing the MarketP lace to Hove. I know from speaking to colleagues they found the event really valuable which helped to spread awareness of the many supportive technologies. I thought the whole event was excellent !” Simon Monnery, Brighton & Hove, goes into detail about Caretech products with Sarah Reeves.

Feedback from MarketPlace Events

A

fter this Marketplace Event we asked the attendees to rate the location and parking, the venue, the exhibition and the break-out sessions from excellent, good, fair to poor.

How did visitors to Hove evaluate this event? In brief 94% of visitors, it seems, rated the event good to excellent when considering the venue, parking and general location. Add in the exhibition and talks and the event was rated, on average, 8 out of a possible 9! Here are some of the comments from the evaluation sheets and we shall certainly put the idea of talk titles and profiles into practice!

“ I found this time very useful. Good to hear other’s views and ideas.” Jean Windsor, Brighton & Hove City Council

“ Really useful workshop!”

Katy Curtis, Adult Social Care, Assess & Reable

“ . .Not always clear what the session would be about from the title.” Frances Phelps, Sussex Partnership NHS Trust

Suppliers & Support Members’ Meeting

T

he Suppliers and Support Members of London Telecare who attended the Forum on 13th February 2013 at Westminster City Hall, were treated to a fascinating insight into the emerging world market for Digital Healthcare by Dr Kevin Doughty (right) seen here with LT Chair, Doug Miles (left) and Gerry Allmark from Bosch Healthcare (centre). Kevin gave an exciting review of the world markets for telecare and telehealth, and the products emerging from new technology. He urged members to become more involved with UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), a new initiative to promote the application of new technologies and expertise both in this country and in world markets. There are huge opportunities to export our goods, services and expertise abroad, particularly in the areas of Healthcare and Life Sciences. The UKTI website gives more details (www.ukti.gov.uk/home. html). London Telecare will seek a closer relationship with government to help our members to demonstrate their service provision and the technology used, as this is regarded by many countries around the world

. . become more involved with the UK Trade and Investment (UK T I), a new government initiative to promote the application of new technologies and expertise both in this country and in world markets, there are huge opportunities to export our goods, services and expertise abroad.. as the standard to aim for. Kevin defined Digital Healthcare as the way forward for telecare and telehealth, and in the discussion that followed, the implications of this were considered in the context of the 3 Million Lives campaign. He alerted suppliers (and service providers) to the imminent exhibition Innovate UK - which included a healthcare stand with a section on Assisted Living Technologies. This was

held in London from March 11th to 13th. There were opportunities for exhibitors to show off their capabilities to a national and international audience, and for delegates to network and learn about opportunities to trade in different markets. Gerry Allmark a lead member of the 3ML campaign explained the background, funding and development so far, and the hopes for achieving its objectives over its 5 year period.

Latest Innovations at Tynetec Roadshow

D

oug Miles and John Chambers went along to the Holiday Inn, Gatwick on 5th June to take part in the Tynetec Roadshow. This was a lively gathering including LT members; Tony Dawkins (Redbridge), Mark Baker (Elmbridge), Suzette Simon (MASCOT), Robin Ollett (Wandsworth), Hannah Steer, Keith Free (Richmond) and Alex Page (Welbeing) and Joe Wherton (Athena). We enjoyed learning about Tynetec’s latest innovations from Stuart Carroll, Mark Shepherd and Kieran McCausland, and in particular, the launch of their online website ‘Mick’s House’. This is a bold and fresh initiative which seeks to spread the word about telecare services, and how they can help users of all ages. We wish them luck with this creative and imaginative approach to marketing.

Take a look inside Mick’s house...

A

t 52 Mick was a successful Regional Sales Manager but one day things took a dramatic turn for the worst and he had to make a life changing decision; move into a residential care home or get telecare support so he could live independently in his own home. Mick’s Story and his blog can be found on the Tynetec website. To read more go to: www.tynetec.co.uk/mickshouse

LT ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN IN SENIOR LIFESTYLE SUPPLEMENT

L

ondon Telecare recently launched a new awareness advertisement in a ‘Senior Lifestyle’ supplement in the Mail on Sunday published on June 23rd 2013. The quarter page space aimed at spreading the message that everyone should know about how their local Telecare service can help them or a family member!

The advert was created after feedback from our recent MarketPlace Event at Hove. Our members feel that too little is being done to increase public awareness of their services, and with the squeeze on government and local council finances, this low-cost media opportunity came at just the right time for us. The ad could have been seen by up to 750,000 people in the London and Carlton TV area. We hope that this wider

audience will result in more people discovering Telecare and how it can help them live independently and for longer in their own homes. We directed readers to look at our website for details of their local service, and we made sure that members checked that links to their services were correct. Raising awareness like this is just one way we can support our members, and we shall continue to look for further opportunities.

Everyone should know about this!

LT to exhibit at UK North- Health+Care 2013 Event West Telecare Event

T

T

he UK North West Telecare event 2013 is being organised for the North West’s council and housing providers’ telecare services by Dawn Thornber of Contour Homes. The event will be held at Salford City Stadium on 3rd September 2013. This free-for-attendees event will be a low-cost opportunity for suppliers to showcase their latest products to people who do not normally attend national events. It is also likely to generate good local publicity. Hazel Blears (MP and all-party representative on dementia) will be the guest speaker and any surplus

funds from the event will be donated to a dementia charity. London Telecare will be exhibiting at this event and have booked a space 4m x 3m in size. We look forward to meeting many new contacts in the North West as we expand our membership nationally.

here were plenty of London Telecare members present at the Health+Care 2013 Show at Excel in London on 12-13th June. Doug Miles and John Chambers were there on the first day, and were impressed by the large number and variety of exhibitors present, all vying for a share of the multi-billion pound NHS budget which presumably Commissioners were there to allocate. Simplicare, Bosch, Supra, Tunstall, Pivotel, Possum, iSpy Digital, Medvivo, Invicta, and Appello were among those visiting, including our latest corporate member Yecco, displaying a refreshing and youthful vision of how to engage whole families, from grandchildren to teenagers - in the care of those most in need. Indeed, most of the staff had some personal and practical experience of caring for loved ones. It underlined what great value our MarketPlaces Events are - as their cost is included in London Telecare membership.
