People from 8 areas or groups replied to us These included - Individuals - Self advocacy groups - Speaking up group from a service We have grouped into themes what people said. There was lots people agreed on We have tried to include all the ideas too

2005 – 2015 What has affected people’s lives The big themes

1. The most people said they now speak up for themselves. People told us they are more confident, have more choice

2. Lots of people have moved into their own home. Some people now live with their partner or friend they chose

3. A lot of people told us about changes to services Remploy and day services closing were talked about the most. Some people were happy with the changes and some were not

4. Some people told us they go out more to meet friends and think transport is better. Some people said they have lost support with transport and see friends less

2005 – 2015 What else people said has happened People told us about lots of things that have affected their lives. 1 group said not enough has changed for people with Learning Disabilities. 1 group reminded us about disabled people being involved in sport of all kinds.

Feeling Safe Some people told us they think there has been good work on stopping hate crime. This includes Safe Places and things like that to keep safe. Some people have experienced it though.

Laws and policies Some people reminded us that we have laws like the Equality Act or policies that say people should be included. They told us about Partnership Boards as well as decisions in their own life.

Family life People told us about growing up or growing older. This included lots of personal things like leaving school, going to college or a family member dying or getting a new brother or sister. 1 family member said they entered “the chaos that is adult services”.

2015 – 2015 What is important to change next Most important thing that nearly everyone said was change people’s attitudes and treat people with respect They want people to use different language, as well as there to be positive role models on the TV or in other parts of public life.

1. Make it easier to get a job and come off benefits

2. Have more Self advocacy groups especially so young people learn it

3. Understand that relationships of all kinds are important to people.

4. Help to develop our own skills more including qualifications

5. Help to stay healthy and get good mental or physical healthcare when needed

6. Make it possible for everyone to live somewhere with people that makes sense to them

Stop people voting as they do not understand and could be made to vote 1 way
