ICT Support Sector F UMCG Manual to connect to eduroam using Windows 7 This manual describes step by step how to gain access to the wireless network of the RUG and other, with eduroam affiliated, educational institutions with Windows 7 Please note!: Your laptop must be provided with a working wireless ethernet adapter Go to the Network and Sharing Center via the Windows Start button and Control Panel Click on Manage wireless networks

Click Add

Click Manually create a network profile.

ICT Support Sector F UMCG Manual to connect to eduroam using Windows 7 (UK) Network name: fill in eduroam Select Security type: WPA2-Enterprise Select Encryption type: AES Select the option Start this connection automatically to make automatically a connection with eduroam when entering a building of the RUG/UMCG. Click Next

In the next screen click Change connection settings

Click the tab Security Select Microsoft:Protected EAP (PEAP) and click Settings.

ICT Support Sector F UMCG Manual to connect to eduroam using Windows 7 (UK) Select Validate server certificate and Verisign Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority – G5 If this certificate is not available you can select the following one: Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority Select Authentication Method: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2) Click Configure

Deselect Automatically use my Windows logon name and password and click OK.

Select the tab 802.1X settings Select Specify authentication mode Subsequently select User authentication and click Save credentials.

Depending on your employee status, type your credentials as written below. Settings RuG Employees Fill in your user credentials as follows User Name: [email protected] or [email protected] Password: your central RUGpassword Click OK

Settings UMCG Employees User Name: [email protected] (like [email protected]) Password: your UMCG password Click OK

Close the remaining screens by clicking on OK.

When a certificate message appears click Connect.

You will now connect to the eduroam network.
