NEWSLETTER March 2013 Presidents Report Sign on day went well with several new members joining the club. Thanks to all members who lent a hand to make the day a success. We have created a new position to look after our new members, a liaison officer which Gary Mansfield has volunteered to do. Gary will make contact with all new members to answer any queries they may have or to offer any assistance they may need. Gary can be contacted on 0411358234. The final touches to the clubhouse extensions are well under way with the stairs in place and the block work completed. Next step is the clear paneling, once this is in place and hand rails are fitted to the stairs it will be ready to be used. Plans for the challenge are well under way and I’m sure Chooka [Peter] will have an update in his report. In trying to formulate the itinerary I missed two trips ,could you please mark May 25th-26 inshore w/o3pm w/I 11am Squire B/U Flathead and June 21st-22nd inshore w/o 5pm w/I 11am Bream B/U Tailor to your itinerary. Diane has attached updated calendars with the itinerary so there is no confusion. Cheers…Barry
Inshore Report There were two trips during the month the first was on 9th/10th approximately 15 members weighed in. Species was Mangrove Jack which is still swimming, B/U was Whiting and was taken out by Mark Woodward {Woody} with 9 Whiting including a bonus fish. Second place went Paul Crisafulli who had a bag of Squire and a few Sweetlip; Wal Ninnes came third with a bag of Bream and a Cod. There was still a lot of fresh about and dirty water which made conditions difficult. The second trip was on 22nd/23rd and the weather forecast put a lot of members off and only five members weighed in. Peter Balkin {Chooka} took out B/U species of the trip Bream as no one caught a Sweetlip and also had a Tailor both caught from the shore. Ernie Richards won the trip with a bag of Whiting including five bonus fish, a Squire and one Flathead. George Barlow has renewed his membership this year after a couple of years absence due to work commitments and came in with a bag of Whiting. Good to see you back George; it was also good to see Adam Neeson back after a few years overseas.
Offshore Report Unfortunately Jason McMillan {Macca} is not renewing his membership this year and was the Offshore Captain. This division is in serious doubt unless someone is willing to take over the position and organize things. Will it happen?
Challenge Report The Challenge organization is well underway, we have had a couple of meetings now and have made some progress, all the past sponsors emails have been sent along with some potential new sponsors (If anyone has any contacts for possible new sponsorships, could you please pass them on). Printing of all the magazines etc has been discussed and permits have been organized. There is still a huge amount of work to be done. I’d like to ask members to please start putting their names down to help out with the challenge event. We need as many members on the 4 days as we can. Please register your name, the day/days you’re able to help along with the times you can work. If you have a preference as to where/what you would like to help with please indicate this as well. Remember the more helpers we get the better, even if you can only do a couple of hours on one day that will be greatly appreciated. Once we have done up a list of jobs/stations finalized I will draw up a roster and have it available for the next newsletter. Please Email or leave a text message with Diane or myself with your name/day/times and station/job preference. Cheers …. Chooka (Peter) Challenge:

Contacts Hi, we are currently revising our email and postal contacts for members. If you have changed email address or postal address and have not updated this with the club can you please advise Lionel so we can update our records. Also we have a high number of members who have their information and newsletters posted out to them each month if you have access to a computer and have an email address could you please pass this on to ease the mounting costs of printing and postage. Thanks Diane

If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee. (Hardly seems worth it.)
If you farted consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb. (Now that's more like it!)
Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour (Don't try this at home, maybe at work) THE HOTEL BILL: An older lady decided to give herself a big treat for her 70th birthday by staying overnight in a really nice hotel. When she checked out the next morning, the desk clerk handed her a bill for $250.00. She demanded to know why the charge was so high. "I agree it's a nice hotel, but the rooms aren't worth $250.00 for just an overnight stay! I didn't even have breakfast." The clerk told her that $250.00 is the 'standard rate', and breakfast had been included had she wanted it. She insisted on speaking to the Manager. The Manager appeared and, forewarned by the desk clerk, announced: "This hotel has an Olympic-sized pool and a huge conference centre which are available for use." "But I didn't use them," she said. ''Well, they are here, and you could have," explained the Manager. He went on to explain that she could also have seen one of the in-hotel shows for which they were so famous. "We have the best entertainers from the world over performing here," the Manager said. "But I didn't go to any of those shows," she said. "Well, we have them, and you could have," the Manager replied. No matter what amenity the Manager mentioned, she replied, "But I didn't use it!" and the Manager countered with his standard response. After several minutes’ discussion, and with the Manager still unmoved, she decided to pay, wrote a check and gave it to him. The Manager was surprised when he looked at the check. "But madam, this check is for $50.00." "That's correct I charged you $200.00 for sleeping with me, “she replied. "But I didn’t!" exclaimed the very surprised Manager. "Well, too bad, I was here, and you could have." Don't mess with Senior Citizens
Sign On Day Sign on day has been and gone, it was well attended by members signing up again and we welcomed a few new members. The club put on Sausages on Bread and Spit Roasted Lamb Rolls with gravy …. How much better can it get …. BIG THANKS to all the members who helped set up for the day and those of you who sat behind the desk and organised all the paperwork and signed members (old and new) up to the club… and a Special Thank You to Phil who prepared the lamb for the spit and Nick who was up at the crack of dawn to cook the delicious Lamb.
