Health Insurance and Scam Awareness Events When it comes to choosing health insurance, the ever changing sea of plans, deductibles, networks and all the other things you need to think about begins to get confusing. We’re here to help you navigate the waters, as we have partnered with the Michigan State Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation to bring you an afternoon packed with information and plenty of take home materials. Join us on April 4th at 1pm for two sessions about selecting, purchasing and understanding health coverage. This presentation will provide you with the basics you need to

make an informed decision when it comes time to find what is right for you. Along with learning the basics of health coverage, we will be offering a second session that will specifically deal with seniors and insurance coverage. The new Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) has changed the landscape of senior coverage in the State of Michigan and the country as a whole. Karin Gyger, the ACA Ombudsman will explain the new laws and focus on how it will affect senior care and coverage now and in the future. Finally the presentation will wrap up with scam awareness and prevention in our community. Call to sign up.

CCC Camps—Come to Life President Franklin Roosevelt said, “Our greatest task is to put people to work. This is no unsolveable problem if we face it wisely and courageously.” So, in1933, over two hundred young men from the Detroit area pitched tents in the Hiawatha National Forest. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), which was President Franklin Roosevelt’s personal project and passion, will celebrate it’s 80th anniversary this March. To mark the occasion, we will be hosting Bill Jamerson, a CCC historian. Bill’s hour long program will include songs and stories about the CCC and how it took boys and turned them into men through teaching them self reliance, discipline and self-respect. Join us on Thursday, May 2nd at 2pm for this engaging and motivational event!

When they are both called back to their hometown for the funeral of the mentor who once gave them shelter they, are forced to deal with the choices they have made. They finally get the chance to find out whether love can truly rewrite the past. I enjoyed this book, because I liked how it is different from the typical romance novel. The book was able to draw me in and make me feel as if I were actually there. The Best of Me is, by far, one of my favorite books by Nicholas Sparks. - Brittany

“For Dawson Cole, the hallucinations began after the explosion on the platform, on the day he should have died. In the fourteen years he’d worked on oil rigs, he thought he’d seen it all. In 1997, he’d watched as a helicopter lost control as it was about to land. It crashed onto the deck, erupting in a blistering fireball, and he’d received second-degree burns on his back as he’d attempted a rescue. Thirteen people, most of them in the helicopter at the time, had died. Four years later, after a crane on the platform collapsed, a piece of flying metal debris the size of a basketball nearly took his head off. In 2004, he was one of the few workers remaining on the rig when Hurricane Ivan slammed into it, with winds gusting over a hundred miles an hour and waves large enough to make him wonder whether to grab a parachute in case the rig collapsed. But there were other dangers as well. People slipped, parts snapped, and cuts and bruises were a way of life among the crew.”
