POSITION TITLE: Marketing and Communications Manager STATUS: Full-time permanent START DATE: Immediately POSITION SUMMARY The Marketing and Communications Manager is an integral member of the Marketing and Communications team. This position leads the production of the organization’s communications materials and consistently adapts to the marketplace to ensure the right messages are reaching the right people. The role involves strategic planning, business analysis and data mining, project management, creative thinking, and a lot of writing. If you pay meticulous attention to detail, are good at managing relationships, enjoy strategic planning, and have a nerdy love of writing and editing then this role may be for you! The standard work week is 40 hours Monday – Friday. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required. This position reports is located in Toronto at our Berkeley Street Theatre offices, reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications and supervises the Digital Marketing Coordinator. RESPONSIBILITIES The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for the following: Com m unications Strategy • Create and execute communications plans for each show in the season, including email marketing, social media, contests, and partnerships • Contribute to advertising and direct mail strategies by identifying target markets and strategizing messaging • Stay abreast and summary market trends and audience research, and apply that knowledge to the marketing and communications strategies Project M anagem ent • Manage all job requests for the graphic design team, including: creating workback schedules, assigning projects (in consultation with the Graphic Director Manager), writing creative briefs, writing copy, facilitating edits and approvals • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met W riting and Editing • Write all marketing and communications copy (i.e.: e-newsletters, letters, postcards, print ads, radio ads, website, etc.) • General copywriting as requested across all departments • Review all outgoing communications to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency with brand-language across all departments Social Media • Lead strategy for and day to day management of social media accounts
Managem ent • Oversee Digital Marketing Coordinator’s work and be ultimately responsible for completion of their tasks: strategizing and implementing cross-promotions with local organizations, maintenance of the website, creation of online advertising and digital content, and more QUALIFICATIONS • University degree or college diploma in Communications, Marketing, English, Public Relations, or similar preferred • Exceptional written communication skills, with a focus on marketing copywriting • Minimum three years of leadership experience in marketing/communications • Demonstrated ability to write, lead, and execute communications plans • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills • Interest in and knowledge of the performing arts sector an asset PERSONAL QUALITIES • Innovative and creative thinker • Strong interpersonal skills • A results-oriented, independent self-starter with the ability to work in crossfunctional teams • Sound judgment, tact, discretion, diplomacy and professionalism • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines COMPANY OVERVIEW Founded in 1987, Canadian Stage is one of the country’s leading not-for-profit contemporary theatre companies, with the 2013.2014 season marking the organization’s 26th season.
