Marketing and External Communications Manager Broad Functions As Dorset Theatre Festival enters into their 40th Anniversary Season, the Marketing and External Communications Manager will play a vital role within Dorset Theatre Festival’s small staff in supporting audience development efforts, fostering the ongoing growth of this exceptional organization. The ideal candidate will have marketing experience within the performing arts, and a proven track record in forming promotional partnerships that directly impact sales, audience growth, and brand awareness. The Associate supervises seasonal staff, including the Box Office Manager, House Manager, and Interns. The successful candidate is driven with a keen ability to prioritize and thrive in juggling a large number of projects. We seek a resilient self-‐starter who enjoys working in a rural, yet fast paced environment, with good cheer. Core Duties and Responsibilities •

Collaborate with the Managing Director to plan, develop, implement, and analyze successful sales strategies to broaden audience base and maximize revenue. Coordinate online and print advertising, digital marketing, and public relations efforts. Design digital external communication and promotional items. Develop, or oversee, the development of promotional audio/video for Dorset Theatre Festival. Execute and maintain all online and social media marketing efforts. Provide regular analysis to improve sales efforts. Work closely with Managing Director to identify trends in audience engagement and capitalize on opportunities to develop relationships with audience, supported by effective use of the CRM system (Patron Manager) and targeted, personalized messaging.
Knowledge and Skills • • • • • • •
Knowledge of performing arts subscription package promotion, single ticket efforts, and industry trends. Proven history in accurately reporting data and efficient data management. Outstanding written and verbal communications. Superior organizational and multi-‐tasking skills, with ability to take initiative, prioritize projects, and exercise good judgment. Creativity and resourcefulness, with strengths in maximizing limited resources. Facility with a CRM software, knowledge of Patron Manager preferred. HTML and graphic design proficiency
Education Bachelor’s degree (Theater, Marketing, Arts Management, or related field) Compensation Commensurate with qualifications and experience, and is competitive with prevailing compensation for similar positions in the surrounding area.
