Intel® and Telkom Launch “Zona Seru Cerdaskan Bangsa” in Central Java High-tech mobile learning station takes fun Internet-based learning directly to schools and hang-out spots in rural Java Semarang, 9 April 2012 – Intel and Telkom today launch the “Zona Seru Cerdaskan Bangsa”, in PT Telkom’s Semarang, Central Java Office. “Zona Seru Cerdaskan bangsa” is a broadband capable, high-tech learning center housed in a minibus called Broadband Learning Centre (BLC) Van. Equipped with PC’s and other computing hardware from supporting OEM brands such as Acer, Axioo, Hewlett Packard, Lenovo, the BLC Van will visit a list of soon-to-be hot spots in Semarang, Jogja, Solo, Tegal, Jepara and Kudus. Powered by Intel and a Speedy Telkom broadband connection, the project also involves Google as learning content provider and FIF Spektra for computer purchasing loans. “Collaborating with Telkom to launch the Zona Seru Cerdaskan Bangsa is in line with our commitment to help accelerate computer technology across Indonesia. This is one of our priorities for helping bridge the digital divide and boost the nation’s competitiveness, “said Harry K Nugraha, Director of Strategic Business Development Intel Indonesia. “Our main objective in initiating this partnership is reaching students and teachers, as well as the surrounding community to demonstrate that teaching and learning can be more exciting and fulfilling online.”

Operated by a crew of 7, including a sales staff of three, captain and driver, in each city the BLC Van will visit public places like schools, neighborhoods and the alun-alun or center of some towns. In addition to spontaneous activities for bystanders and people living nearby, there will be a range of workshops for both teachers and students that will take place at schools. “While it may be hard to believe, in isolated areas of Indonesia, books are the only source of information that people know about, “ said Rosyidul Umam Aly, Head of Telkom Semarang office. “Zona Seru Cerdaskan Bangsa will hopefully demonstrate new ways of learning. We think people will be get excited about the opportunity to connect and see how different the learning process can be with technology.” As an additional opportunity for learning, at every stop along the route, the BLC Van lets candidates audition for openings as newscasters. Meanwhile, those who are more into working in team may compete in Family Cerdas Cermat. Various contents inside the BLC Van computers are provided by Telkom and Google, with a focus on Easy Step program for those who lack previous computer or Internet experience.
