Meet Our Editor Ludovico Abenavoli University Magna Graecia Catanzaro Italy Ludovico Abenavoli received his pre-doctoral education at the Institute of Internal Medicine of “Catholic University” of Rome (Italy). In 2002, he graduated in medicine, at the Catholic University” of Rome. From 2002 to 2003, he completed his post-graduate Masters in “Alcohol-related pathologies” at the Alcoholism Treatment Unit of the Department of Physiopathology of the University of Florence (Italy). From 2005 to 2006, he served as the research fellow in the Liver Unit, Hôpital Saint Antoine, Université Pierre et Marie Curie - Paris VI, Paris (France). In 2007 he specialized in the Internal Medicine, at the “Catholic University” of Rome. From 2008 to 2009, he did his post-graduate Masters in “Internal medicine diagnostic ultrasound and eco-guided therapies” at the Institute of Internal Medicine of the “Catholic University” of Rome. In 2010, he completed Academic Doctorate (Ph.D.) at the Department of Neuroscience, Division of Human Nutrition, University “Tor Vergata” of Rome. Between 2008 and 2016, he was an assistant professor in Gastroenterology at the Department of Health Sciences, University “Magna Græcia”, Catanzaro (Italy). In 2010, he became the Coordinator of the “Young hepatologists commission” of Italian Association for the Study of the Liver (A.I.S.F.). In 2011, he was invited as the researcher in the Liver Unit, Hôpital Jean Verdier, Universitè - Paris XIII, Paris. In 2012, 2013 and 2014, he was invited as the professor at the University of Batna (Algeria). In 2014 and 2015, he was invited as the professor at the University of Novi Sad (Serbia). In 2015, he was selected for the High Education Teaching Program - Erasmus+, at the University of Cluj-Napoca (Romania). Since 2016, he is an associate professor in gastroenterology at the Department of Health Sciences, University “Magna Græcia”, Catanzaro. Between 2012 and 2015, Ludovico Abenavoli, was the board member of University Gastroenterology Education Committee (UNIGASTRO). In 2013, he was a board member of Italian Society of Gastroenterology (S.I.G.E.). Ludovico Abenavoli is the author of 136 publications in the peer-reviewed international journals (total impact factor: 349.832; Scopus H-index: 21), and of 23 chapters of books. His main contributions in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology include: 1) the study of new treatment in alcoholic liver disease and alcohol dependence patients; 2) the development of new non-invasive tools for the diagnosis and follow-up of liver diseases; 3) the study of the relationship between insulin-resistance and chronic liver diseases 4) the evaluation of new treatments for liver steatosis, including the evaluation of the Mediterranean diet effects; and 5) the epidemiology of liver diseases, and in particular of the chronic infection by hepatitis C virus in Africa.
