3 AGENDA  Program Overview: o The focal person – Prof. Dr. Khalid M. Iraqi informed that the ‘Active Citizens Programme’ is the University Partnership Project between the University of Karachi and British Council in collaboration with Higher Education Commission, Pakistan. In this connection, he shared the following programme details with the facilitators.  The Active Citizens Programme is a Certificate Course comprising of ‘Four Thematic Modules’. discussion was mainly focused on the strategies to be adopted for the programme launch. Brief highlights are as follows:  Mr. Amjad Ali, Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed and Ms. Saima A. Mallick highlighted the importance of setting selection criteria for the students’ registration. Ms. Saima A. Mallick’s emphasis was on students’ intellect assessment and administrative registrations. She also suggested using a prototype project for cascading the requisite learning among the students. Dr. Nasimuddin supported the idea.  Ms. Saima A. Mallick mentioned that some other teachers are showing their keen interest in the project. She raised a question if they can be trained to get engaged into the project. Dr. Iraqi accorded his consent.  Ms. Shamaila Burney suggested that a ‘Student Registration Form’ should be developed to fulfill the record keeping requirements of the students’ registration.  Syeda Hoor-Ul-Ain directed the facilitators’ attention towards the need of creating awareness of the programme among the students. She suggested that “One Message Dissemination Strategy” should be adopted across the university. All other facilitators welcomed the suggestion. Besides, she raised a question for setting the target audience of the programme to maintain the intellectual homogeneity among the learners’ slot. Hearing the comments, Dr. Iraqi directed all facilitators to set the students of BS Programme studying in their 2nd and 3rd Years as the target audience of the Active Citizens Programme.  Dr. Nasimuddin, Mr. Amjad Ali, Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed, Dr. Naila and Mr. Adil Shakeel informed that they are already creating awareness among their students and many of them are taking interest as well. o Hearing everyone, the vote was called for initiating the program at the university level and approved unanimously.

 Pilot Project: o British Council’s representatives – Mr. Iftikhar Ahmed and Ms. Kanwal Shah raised a requirement for initiating a ‘pilot project’ so that the students of the University of Karachi may be able to seize the opportunity to participate in the ‘National SAP Award Ceremony’ which will be convened in February 2016. o Dr. Iraqi then asked the facilitators if they can roll out the pilot project in November 2015. o Some of the facilitators submitted their affirmative responses to the question, however, Dr. Naila, Ms. Sadaf, Mr. Amjad Ali and Syeda Hoor-Ul-Ain showed serious concerns highlighting the fact that the semester is coming to an end and examinations are about to begin across the university. Furthermore, Syeda Hoor-Ul-Ain Approval Date: November 20, 2015

He advised everyone to carry out a meticulous selection for the pilot project.

 Web Portal Training for Facilitators o British Council’s representative – Ms. Kanwal Shah informed the participants that Syeda Hoor-Ul-Ain had attended Web Portal Orientation Session in October 2015. She emphasized that Syeda will facilitate the other participants in getting their students registered on the British Council’s Web Portal. o In the spirit of sharing knowledge, Syeda Hoor-Ul-Ain explained that she will conduct a training session for all the facilitators in January 2016.

4 DECISIONS MADE (THE WAY FORWARD) Hearing everyone, Dr. Iraqi announced the following decisions.
