Talk – Taming the Dragon, the Conservation of an Imperial Dragon Robe from the Chester Beatty Library Collection During the past year a number of Members made an additional donation when renewing their membership. We are very grateful for this support which funded the conservation of a beautiful, 19th-century Imperial Chinese Dragon Robe. The work was carried out by Textile Conservator Karen Horton and the robe will go on display in January 2014 as part of our Chinese New Year celebrations. To coincide with the installation of the newly conserved robe, we are delighted to welcome Karen to give a talk about the careful conservation of this wonderful object. The talk will be followed by a tasting of some Chinese teas including Lapsang Souchong and Theophile.
architecture was built in 1776 for Joseph Leeson, who later became the 1st Earl of Milltown. We will enjoy Afternoon Tea and a glass of Prosecco during our visit.
