Key Messages SAP intends to acquire TechniData AG, the world’s leading provider of EHS (environmental, health and safety) solutions. TechniData, based in Markdorf, Germany, employs nearly 500 people worldwide. SAP plans to broaden its sustainability product portfolio and thought leadership through this acquisition. SAP and TechniData have been partners for more than 15 years to deliver the value of sustainability solutions to customers, and this is a natural next step between the two companies that are both driven by the common belief that sustainability is core to all business processes in the future. In partnering for this length of time, we share a successful history based on mutual trust and respect. TechniData brings a group of world class sustainability professionals to the SAP family, enriching our combined expertise in sustainability. SAP’s acquisition strategy is to balance its product portfolio with purchases that offer innovative technologies and functional capabilities SAP’s scale in delivering business processes and analytics to customers will allow us to deliver world-class sustainability solutions to even more customers. As our product and service strategy has evolved, we see many opportunities for innovation in the area of sustainability, specifically in product safety and EHS, while further reducing customers’ cost of integration. The acquisition is expected to be complete at the beginning of Q3 2010.

Message Brief TechniData TechniData & SAP TechniData has worked closely with SAP since 1995. A successful collaboration was launched with a strategic development partnership for the SAP® EH&S application, first released in 1997. This partnership has since been intensified with an extended cooperation agreement announced in 2001. Since then, TechniData has not only been responsible for the development of SAP EH&S, but also for its maintenance, rollout support and marketing — working in close cooperation with SAP product management. Aside from its software and services partnership with SAP, TechniData has also been an SAP xApps Partner since July 2003 and Special Expertise Partner for SAP® Product Lifecycle Management (SAP PLM). In 2008, SAP and TechniData signed a long-term contract to intensify their partnership – resulting in a strategic development cooperation to provide solutions for EHS management.
Benefit For customers: SAP will be able to provide customers a truly holistic approach to environmental, health and safety (EHS) solutions. TechniData has not only been responsible for the development of SAP EHS Management, but also for its maintenance, rollout support, and marketing.
