Message from the Editorial Team Message from Anna Ugalde and Anna Boltong
Welcome to the June 2013 edition of the Society News. June is of course MASCC/ISOO Symposium month so we are excited to profile the workshops some of you will be able to participate in if you have the opportunity to go to Berlin (and enjoy all it has to offer!). Every month we feature some of the latest publications by MASCC members and give you an opportunity to meet some new MASCC members from all over the world. No doubt, we will have some exciting stories from the annual meeting to be able to share in future issues of our newsletter. As always, you can keep us updated with any MASCC member news or events, including research or clinical achievements. We can be contacted at
[email protected] or
[email protected]. Enjoy the conference and we look forward to hearing from you. Anna & Anna

Randi Hoffman I currently work as a nurse practitioner at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA. Because I work with long-term survivors of allogeneic stem cell transplantation, I am interested in the development of strategies to assist with recovery and enhance quality of life. My research interests encompass physical exercise and its impact on recovery. I joined MASCC because of its focus on supportive care. I believe that there are great opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with other health care experts around the world.
Ayo Okelana I am a missionary of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (www.rccg.org) serving as a lecturer with the Redeemed Christian School of Missions, Nigeria where I teach Social Work amongst other courses. Being a Social Worker (MSW, Ibadan) I am interested in people and I am also interested in palliative care research. People have been my passion. I came across MASCC/ISOO and I read through the mission and felt it aligned with my thoughts. I wanted to be a part of any group that shared this purpose, I felt headlong for the assembly.
Dr Philip Oluleke Ibinaiye MBBS, FMCR, FICS I am a Senior Lecturer and Consultant Radiologist at Ahmadu Bello University and Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria. As a Radiologist, I am involved in the management and counselling of newly diagnosed cancer patients and when they are subsequently on follow up posttreatment. I joined MASCC because of the objectives of the organization to bring relief to cancer patients.
