METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR TRANSLITERATING TEXT FROM ONE LANGUAGE TO MULTIPLE LANGUAGE SCRIPTS

The present application claims priority of Indian provisional application

serial number 931/CHE/2012 filed on 14 March 2012, and that application is incorporated in its entirety at least by reference.

BACKGROUND Technical field [0002]

The embodiments herein generally relate to a method for data

processing or text processing and particularly relates to a method for processing of input text and phonetic conversions. The embodiments herein more particularly relates to a method and system for transliterating an input text into multiple languages.

Description of the Related Art [0003]

A language is a set of symbols, used intelligently by human beings for

communication between the people of the same or different community. All countries have same or different languages and each language has its own writing scripts for writing. The number of languages used worldwide is very large and many are yet to be discovered. Now, people of a country are learning languages of other countries in order to grow business in other country, and for many other reasons.

A person faces difficulties when he visits other country and does not

know the local language of that country. This problem is generally faced by tourists from other countries. The tourists experience an improper communication which arises due to lack of knowledge on the local language. The tourist then hires a guide in that country who knows the local language and the tourist’s language for translation purpose. Many times people know to speak in other language but don’t know to read and write in that language. Also, sometimes the person wants to write in other language but does not know the script of that language. [0005]

One of the prior art provides a method and system to highlight a string

or text in one language, selecting the target language for transliteration and obtaining the transliterated text or string.

There is no provision for typing the script in desired

language. The transliteration works on the highlighted text. The prior art is limited to Indian language and requires the transliteration software to be installed in the computer. The prior art also, does not provide the audio output for the transliterated text. [0006]

Another prior art provides a method for transliteration of one

language to another by using only English characters. The prior art method transliterates a text from English language to other desired language but not vice-versa. The user is required to know English language for using transliteration method. The prior art thus, does not allow a person, with the knowledge of only one language, to use the transliteration method. Also the present prior art does not provide multiple output of the entered text. [0007]

Hence, there is need for an efficient method for transliterating a text

or string with a good accuracy from one language to another desired language by overcoming the above mentioned short-comings along with other requirements. Also,

there is a need for a method to provide an easy method for transliterating from one language to multiple languages at a time. [0008]

The above mentioned shortcomings, disadvantages and problems are

addressed herein and which will be understood by reading and studying the following specification.

SUMMARY [0009]

The primary object of the embodiments herein is to provide a

computer based instructions implementing Unicode for transliteration of one language script to other desired language script instantly. [0010]

Another object of the embodiments herein is to provide an On-Screen

Keyboard (OSK) for entering text or string in a user desirable language inside an input text box. [0011]

Yet another object of the embodiments herein is to provide all the

characters of a selected language including special characters and numbers (Numerals) of the respective language in the OSK. [0012]

Yet another object of the embodiments herein is to provide a method

to display an output (transliterated text or string) of the text or string, in one or more combinations of the user’s desired languages. [0013]

Yet another object of the embodiments herein is to provide an audio

output for each output box comprising transliterated text or string. [0014]

Yet another object of the embodiments herein is to provide an

interactive mode type OSK in the desired language to input characters in all browsers, windows and other operating systems based applications. [0015]

Yet another object of the embodiments herein is to provide a

transliteration application as a web-based application, or as a plug-in to a browser, or as an add-on to another similar kind of application. [0016]

Yet another object of the embodiments herein is to provide a

computer based Unicode instructions as a standalone application, for using instantly without major installation process of the transliteration application into the desired system of use. [0017]

Yet another object of the embodiments herein is to provide a

transliteration application compatible with portables mobile devices like Smart Phones, Pointing devices (like Mouse, Track Ball, Joystick) and Touch-Screen devices. [0018]

Yet another object of the embodiments herein is to provide a

transliteration application with a native numbers checkbox for displaying the numbers in the native language format. [0019]

These and other objects and advantages of the present embodiments

will become readily apparent from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. [0020]

The various embodiments herein describe a method for transliterating

a text string from one language script to multiple language scripts. The method comprises the steps of providing an user interface for inputting the text string to be transliterated, selecting a preferred input language from a drop down menu, rendering an On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) based on the selected input language, selecting one or more output languages, providing an optional interactive OSK based on a user request, invoking and executing a first display function for displaying each character of the selected input language script on the OSK, entering the text string in the preferred language, invoking and executing a second display function for displaying each characters of the inputted text

string in the selected input language, performing a Unicode based transliteration on the input text, invoking and executing a third display function for displaying each character of the selected input language for the transliterated text string, providing at least one output of the transliterated text string along with respective audio output, and sharing the output transliterated text with one or more users. The user interface also provides a native transliteration between two dissimilar language scripts. [0021]

According to an embodiment herein, the user selects one or more

output languages from a transliteration language menu. An equal number of output text boxes are displayed as the number of transliteration languages selected by the user. [0022]

According to an embodiment herein, the transliterated text string is

provided as at-least one of a text output displayed in a text output box and an audio output comprising a simultaneous play, a replay and a selective replay. [0023]

According to an embodiment herein, the simultaneous play mode

upon selecting instantaneously plays a phonetic sound as the transliterated text string starts appearing in the text output box. The replay mode upon selecting plays a phonetic sound for the entire transliterated text string when the user enters the text string in the text input box. The selective replay mode upon selecting plays a phonetic sound for a particular transliterated text string highlighted by the user. The simultaneous play, the replay and the selective replay modes plays the phonetic sound for the transliterated text in the accent of the output language script. [0024]

According to an embodiment herein, the selection of language script

from the drop down menu displays the characters of the selected language script on the OSK. The OSK provides a flexible layout of the script characters arranged in a preset sequence thereby providing an option to display only a preferred group of script

characters to the user at a time. [0025]

According to an embodiment herein, the script characters are

formalized based on properties of the individual script characters comprising a group of vowels, a group of consonants, a group of half-consonants, a group of half-vowels, a group of numbers, a group of special characters and a group of all the script characters. The group of all script characters is a collection of vowels, consonants, half-consonants, half-vowels, numbers, and special characters of the selected language. [0026]

According to an embodiment herein, executing the transliteration of

the text string comprises the steps of: selecting a script of a desired input language from a group of one or more languages, displaying a set of characters of the language script selected from the drop down menu on the On-Screen Keyboard (OSK), entering a desired text string in the preferred language, displaying the transliterated text, providing a phonetic sound of the transliterated text string in a preferred output language and launching an interactive OSK.

The interactive OSK enables to input text to be

transliterated in any text based applications. [0027]

According to an embodiment herein, the interactive OSK is

independent from the user interface. The interactive OSK is integrated with a plurality of browser based applications and a plurality of operating system based applications. [0028]

According to an embodiment herein, transliterating the text from one

language script to multiple language scripts is executed through an application or software program comprising one or more computer based instructions. The computer based instructions are provided as one of a web-based application, a plug-in to a browser, and an add-on to one or more internet browsers. [0029]

According to an embodiment herein, the user selects one or more text

output language scripts before entering any text string in the text input box. Selecting one or more output language scripts provides for displaying an equal number of text output boxes to display the transliterated text string in the selected language. [0030]

According to an embodiment herein, selecting the preferred input

language loads a Unicode array value corresponding to each character of the selected language script. The Unicode array value is loaded for vowels, consonants, half-vowels, half-consonants, numerals and other special characters. [0031]

According to an embodiment herein, selecting of the preferred input

language further loads the array value of audio file names associated with each character of the selected language script. [0032]

According to an embodiment herein, the first display function, the

second display function and the third display function displays the characters of a selected language script by converting the Unicode value of the character to string value of the character. The string value of the character describes the appearance of the character in the selected input language. [0033]

According to an embodiment herein, a plurality of third display

functions is executed depending on the number of output language selected by the user. Each third display function is adapted to display the characters for the respective transliterated text string in the corresponding output text box. [0034]

According to an embodiment herein, the method of inputting the text

string in the text input box comprises: displaying vowels of the input language script independently, displaying consonants of the input language script independently, displaying consonants of the input language script with a combination of half-vowels and half-consonants, using half-vowels after a consonant character, using half-consonants

before a consonant character, displaying special characters of the input language script independently and displaying numbers of the input language script independently. [0035]

According to an embodiment herein, the method further comprises

generating a text document of the transliterated text string, storing the text document in the user device and sharing the text document including the at least one output transliterated text string to one or more users. The transliterated text is shared by one of an E-Mail and posting in social networking web portals. A user is also allowed to print one or more transliterated text string and input text string through the user interface. [0036]

The various embodiments herein provide a system for transliterating a

text from one language script to multiple language scripts. The system comprises a user interface for providing the user to transliterate a text string in one language script to a preferred multiple language scripts. A drop down menu for selecting a preferred input language.

A native transliteration for handling the issues relating to transliteration

between unmatched script characters of two different languages. An input text box, for receiving the input text string from the user for transliteration. An On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) for providing input characters for the selected input language. An OSK button for launching an interactive OSK independent from the user interface. An output text box for displaying the transliterated text string. The number of output text box depends on the number of output languages selected by the user. A display screen for displaying the user interface. A processor for processing an input text string and transliterating to a preferred output language scripts. A memory for storing a plurality of computer implemented instructions for processing the input text string and displaying the output on a user interface, and a speaker for playing a phonetic sound for the transliterated text string. According to an embodiment herein, the transliteration of the input

text string is performed in one of a Computer, Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, Smart Phone and a Touch Screen Device. [0038]

According to an embodiment herein, the user enters a text string in a

text input box by adopting an input medium. The input medium comprises any one of a pointing device, a Joystick, a Computer Mouse, a Touch Screen, a Track Ball and a Keyboard. [0039]

These and other aspects of the embodiments herein will be better

appreciated and understood when considered in conjunction with the following description and the accompanying drawings. It should be understood, however, that the following descriptions, while indicating preferred embodiments and numerous specific details thereof, are given by way of illustration and not of limitation. Many changes and modifications may be made within the scope of the embodiments herein without departing from the spirit thereof, and the embodiments herein include all such modifications.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS [0057]

In the following detailed description, a reference is made to the

accompanying drawings that form a part hereof, and in which the specific embodiments that may be practiced is shown by way of illustration. These embodiments are described in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the art to practice the embodiments and it is

to be understood that the logical, mechanical and other changes may be made without departing from the scope of the embodiments. The following detailed description is therefore not to be taken in a limiting sense. [0058]

FIG. 1 illustrates a process flow diagram for transliterating an input

text to multiple languages, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. A user invokes a user interface in a computing device such as Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, Mobile Phone, Touch Screen devices, etc. The user interface provides an input text box to the user for entering a desired input text (101). The before entering a text in the input text box, the user selects a preferred input language from a drop down menu. The drop down menu comprises plurality of language scripts spoken around the world such as but not limited to English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, etc (102).

The user scrolls the drop down menu and selects a preferred

language script. The selection of a language from the drop down menu renders and displays an On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) on the user interface. The OSK comprises all the script characters/letters of the selected language (103). Each script character of the selected input language is displayed on individual virtual button by invoking an executing a first display function. The first display function is an instance of a display function which comprises an algorithm to fetch the corresponding script characters on the virtual buttons (104).

The user further selects one or more text output languages in which the

transliteration is required. Based on the number of languages selected for the output, the same number of output text boxes is displayed on the user interface (105). Once the OSK comprising script characters of the selected input language is displayed, the user is allowed to enter a text string in the input text box (106). The user interface also allows the user to launch an interactive OSK which is independent from the OSK in the user

interface. When the user starts entering a text string, a second display function is invoked. The second display function is a second instance of the display function which displays each character of the entered text string in the input text box (107). As the user is entering a text string in the input text box, a Unicode based transliteration is applied. The Unicode based transliteration, transliterates the input language to the selected number of output languages (108). Each character of the transliterated script is displayed by invoking and executing respective third display function. The third display function is a third instance of the display function (109). The transliteration is provided for each of the selected output language along with corresponding phonetic output (110). The user views the output or listens to the phonetic output and shares with his/her friends (111). [0059]

According to an embodiment herein, the method of transliterating an

input text string to one or more output languages comprises Unicode based chart. The Unicode based chart comprises character sets for all the languages. For each script character of the language a Unicode value is provided. The Unicode value comprises a hexadecimal value and a decimal value. A Unicode based chart for few languages is illustrated below: Language

Initially by default, an OSK of the user interface is displays script characters for the KANNADA language. The default language is alterable to any other preferred language. In the above Unicode chart example, the Unicode value of KANNADA letter ಅ is 3205. The script characters of the other languages are displayed by adding the above specified (at Calculations column) values. Based on the specified calculations, the same logic is applied for other languages. The transliteration is simple in case of languages such as Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, etc. since the order of script letters in Unicode formation is identical. The transliteration logic is slightly modified if the language doesn’t come in the specified order. Any variation in order of elements is handled through the array of values. The transliteration process adopted in the embodiments is different from the existing transliteration process based on the two major points, i.e., a user types the letter directly, without intermediate English or any language support, and a Plug and Play feature is provided, i.e., no additional software installation is required. FIG. 2 illustrate a process flow diagram for entering an input text in a

desired language, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The FIG. 2 defines the rules to enter a correct text string in a text input box. The user is allowed to enter the vowels independently. Thus, the vowels of the input language script are displayed independently (201). independently.

Thus, the consonants of the input language script are displayed

independently (202). Further, the consonants of the input language script are also allowed to be used with combination of half-vowels and half-consonants. Thus, the consonants of the input language script are displayed with a combination of half-vowels and half-consonants (203). Still further, the half-vowels are used after a consonant

character (204). Similarly, the half-consonants are used before a consonant character (205). Furthermore, the special characters of the input language script are displayed independently (206).

FIG. 3 illustrate a user interface with an On-screen Keyboard (OSK) for

transliterating an input text in English language to multiple languages, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. A user interface 301 is invoked by the user in a computing device.

The user interface 301 comprises a drop down menu 302, a

transliteration language menu 303, a native transliteration option 304, an OSK button 311, a text input box 306, an On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) 307, a native numbers checkbox 319, an OSK modifier 308, one or more text output boxes 309 and one or more Replay buttons 310. The user interface 301 further provides plurality of task based buttons comprising an audio checkbox 305, a Create Text File button 312, a print button 313, a share button 315 and a selective replay 316. The drop-down menu 302 provides a list of languages to the user for selecting as an input language such as English, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam etc. The drop-down menu 302 also provides a list of international languages such as Chinese, Japanese, and French etc. The OSK button 311 facilitates the user with an interactive OSK 307. The transliteration language menu 303 allows the user to select one or

more transliteration languages. Based on the number of output languages selected, a corresponding number of output text boxes 309 are displayed on the user interface 301. Alternately, any user interface 301 that supports similar functionality instead of the transliteration language menu 303, such as a check box group is provided, where the user selects the preferred transliteration language by checking the respective check boxes. The

native transliteration 304 option is provided for handling sensitive issues in the transliterated script. For example, a word PADMA in Telugu/Kannada/Hindi language is transliterated as BADMA for Tamil language.

Similarly, a word RAVINDRA in

Telugu/Kannada/Hindi language is transliterated as RABINDRA for Bengali language. The user enables the native transliteration 304 option by selecting the check box. So, the transliteration procedure is common from any language to the specific language. The OSK button 311 allows a user to launch an interactive OSK independent from the user interface 301. The user is able to use this interactive OSK with any application in a computing medium. Once the user interface 301 is displayed to a user, the user selects the input language 302 as English. When the user selects the input language 302 as English, the corresponding characters with virtual buttons are displayed on the user interface 301.

The script character set of the selected language comprising Script

characters, Numbers (Numerals) and special characters refers to the OSK 307. The “Space” 317, and “Clear All” 318, buttons assist a user in amending or correcting an input text. The OSK 307 is displayed above the OSK modifier 308. The native numbers checkbox 319 when selected by the user displays the numbers in the native language format. [0063]

The OSK modifier 308 provides an option to the user for displaying a

particular group of script characters at a time. The OSK modifier 308 displays plurality of radio buttons for plurality of groups of script characters such as vowels, consonants, halfvowels, half consonants, numbers, special characters and all script characters. A vowel radio button is selected for displaying only vowels in the OSK 307. A consonant radio button is selected for displaying only consonants in the OSK 307. A radio button for halfvowel is selected for displaying only half-vowels in the OSK 307. A radio button for half-

consonants is selected for displaying only half-consonants in the OSK 307. A radio button for numbers is selected for displaying only numbers in the OSK 307. A radio button for special characters is selected for displaying only special characters in the OSK 307. When the user selects an “all” radio button, then entire script characters of the selected input languages is displayed in the OSK 307. The OSK modifier 308 functionality is implemented in the form of radio buttons is also implementable in another form such as a checkbox, a list-box, and a toggle button for displaying either combination of script groups or single group of script characters. The user enters a text string inside the input text box 306. The output

text box 309 is provided at the bottom of the user interface 301. The output text box 309 displays transliterated result, of the string entered inside the input text box 306. One or more output text boxes 309 are provided based on the user’s choice. FIG. 1 displays two output text boxes 309 as an example for a Kannada and a Hindi language. The input text box 306 shows a string in English. The transliterated string is obtained in the output text box 309 for the selected output language. The output is also obtained for multiple output languages based on user’s multiple choice. An audio output for the transliterated text or string is provided for each output text boxes 309. The user listens to the phonetic sound of the transliterated text string by selecting a preferred Replay button 310. After entering a desired text string, the user replays the audio for the entire transliterated text string by using the Replay button 310. The Replay button 310 is provided next to each output text boxes 309. The file names are automatically created, when the user types the script letters using the OSK 307, and the sound is played. Whenever the user selects the Replay button 305, the phonetic sound for the specific language is played. A blank audio file is also provided to handle space between texts. Further, the user is provided with an audio

checkbox 305 for enabling and disabling simultaneous play mode. When the user selects the audio checkbox 305, the user interface 301 is enabled with simultaneously play mode. The user is able to instantly listen to the phonetic sound of the characters being typed inside the input text box 306. When the user selects the audio checkbox 305, then a phonetic sound is played for each selection of a script character in the OSK 307 while entering a text string inside the input text box 306. For example for typing “

“RAMA” / “राम” the phonetic audio is played as follows. When a consonant “” / “RA” /

“र” is typed, the phonetic audio is RA. When a half-consonant ◌” ”◌ा” is typed for “”

/ “रा”, immediately the audio is RAA. When “” / “MA” / “म” is typed, the audio is MA.

Similarly, when the audio checkbox 305 is disabled /unchecked, then the phonetic sound is disabled. The Selective replay 316 allows the user to listen to the particular language text string specified at drop-down box 312. The user highlights a particular length of the text string and selects selective replay 316 to listen the phonetic audio. The phonetic audio is played for the entire text string instead of individual letters. For example, the phonetic audio for the word “RAMA” / “

” / “राम” is / “राम” and not “” /

“रराम”. While displaying letters at output text box 309, the user interface 301 stores the data in variables. Whenever the user selects the text characters in the output text box 309, the user interface 301 gets the information of the character based on position/selection of cursor. [0065]

The user is able to generate any text based document for the text

string inside the input text box 306 and in the one or more output text box 309 by selecting the Create Text File button 313. A language menu 312 is provided. Based on the language selected in the language menu 312 and based on user selection, the user is able to generate a text document containing either the input text string, any one of the transliterated text strings or all the text strings. The print button 314 facilitates the printing either the input text string, any one of the transliterated text strings or all the text strings.. The share button 315 provides connectivity with Social networking portals such as Facebook™, LinkedIn™, Twitter™, etc. The user selects the share button 315 to share the outputs in a desired portal. By using the share tab 315, the user is also allowed to send the transliterated string through E-Mails as well. [0066]

FIG. 4 illustrates a user interface with an OSK for transliterating an

input text in Hindi language to multiple languages, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The FIG. 4 further illustrates an OSK 307 when Hindi is selected as an input language. With reference to FIG. 3, the FIG. 4 displays an OSK 307 for an Hindi script characters.

The input text box 306 comprises a string in Hindi language and the

transliterated strings are shown in Telugu and Kannada languages in respective output boxes 309. [0067]

FIG. 5 illustrates a user interface with an OSK for transliterating an

input text in Telugu language to multiple languages, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The FIG. 5 further illustrates an OSK 307 when Telugu is selected as an input language. With reference to FIG. 3, the FIG. 5 displays an OSK 307 for a Telugu script characters. The input text box 306 comprises a string in Telugu language and the transliterated strings are shown in Hindi and Kannada languages in respective output boxes 309.

FIG. 6 illustrates a user interface with an OSK displaying consonants

group based on user selection for the Telugu input language, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The user selects Telugu as an input language. With reference to FIG. 5, the FIG. 6 display an OSK 307 with reduced number of script characters. The user selects consonants in the OSK modifier 308 resulting in displaying of only consonants of the Telugu language. By using the modified OSK 307, the user types a desired text string in the input text box 306. The transliterated text strings are obtained in the output text boxes 309 for Kannada and Hindi language. [0069]

FIG. 7 illustrates a user interface with an OSK displaying consonants

group based on user selection for a Hindi input language, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The user selects Telugu as an input language 302. With reference to FIG. 3, the FIG. 7 display an OSK 307 with reduced number of script characters. The user selects vowels in the OSK modifier 308 resulting in displaying of only consonants of the Hindi language. By using the modified OSK 307, the user is able to type a preferred test easily and in quick time. The user types a desired text string in the input text box 306.by using different script groups from the OSK modifier 308. The transliterated text strings are obtained in the output text boxes 309 for Telugu and Urdu language. [0070]

FIG. 8 illustrates a user interface with an OSK displaying consonants

group based on user selection for a Tamil input language, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. With reference to FIG. 3, the user selects Tamil as an input language 302. The user further selects three output languages 303 as Bengali, Urdu and Malayalam. The user enters a text sting in Tamil inside the input text box 306. The transliterated text strings are instantly obtained for three selected output languages in respective output boxes 309. The text entered inside the input text box 306 is performed

by using different script groups in the OSK modifier 308, but only consonants is displayed in the FIG. 8. [0071]

FIG. 9 illustrates a user interface with an OSK of a Bengali input

language and displays issues related to dissimilar language scripts, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The dissimilar language scripts signify that a character in first language script is not defined in another language script. With reference to FIG. 3, the user selects Bengali as input language 302. The output languages 303 selected by the user are Kannada and Telugu. The user enters text by using the different script groups of the OSK modifier 308. Only numbers of the Bengali language is displayed in the OSK because in the OSK modifier 308 a radio button for Numbers is selected. The user enters text inside the input text box 306 and corresponding transliterated text is obtained in output text boxes 309. The text entered inside the input text box refers to “RAMA RABI 91” which is also transliterated in “RAMA RABI 91”. Further, since the native numbers 319 is selected by the user, the numbers entered in Bengali language inside the input text box 306, is translated to the number format as per the output language. FIG. 10 illustrates a user interface implementing native translation for

an OSK of a Bengali input language, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. With reference to FIG. 3 and FIG. 10, the user selects Bengali as input language 302. The issues in the transliteration in FIG. 10 are solved by selecting the native transliteration 304. The text entered inside the input text box 306 is accurately transliterated to the selected output languages 303 Kannada and Telugu. Since the native transliteration 304 is enabled, the Bengali text entered inside the input text box referring to “RAMA RABI 91” is transliterated to “RAMA RAVI 91” in Kannada and Telugu. Further, since the native numbers 319 is selected by the user, the numbers entered in Bengali

language inside the input text box 306, is translated to the number format as per the output language. [0073]

FIG. 11 illustrates an interactive independent OSK for entering input

text in plurality of computer based text input platforms, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. With reference to FIG. 3, the user selects the OSK button 311 in the of the user interface to obtain an independent and interactive OSK 801.

The

interactive OSK 801 is obtained for a preferred language by first selecting a preferred language from the drop down menu 302 such as English, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, etc. The FIG. 8 display the interactive OSK 801 for the language Kannada. All the characters related to language Kannada is provided in the interactive OSK 801. The script character set of the selected language comprising Script characters, Numbers (Numerals) and special characters refers to the OSK 307. The “Space” 317, and “Clear All” 318, buttons assist a user in amending or correcting an input text. The OSK 307 is displayed above the OSK modifier 308. The OSK modifier 308 provides an option to the user for displaying a particular group of script characters at a time. Selecting the radio button for vowel displays only vowels in the OSK 307. Selecting the radio button for consonants displays only consonants in the OSK 307. Selecting the radio button for halfvowel displays only half-vowels in the OSK 307. Selecting the radio button for halfconsonants displays only half-consonants in the OSK 307. Selecting the radio button for numbers displays only numbers in the OSK 307. Selecting the radio button for special characters displays only special characters in the OSK 307. When the user selects the radio button “all”, then entire script characters of the selected input languages is displayed in the OSK 307. A selective replay 316 in the interactive OSK 801 enables the user to listen to the entered text string in selective manner. The user is able to type a

preferred text and listen by selecting the replay button 316. An audio checkbox 305 assist the user to listen to what is being typed in real time. The audio checkbox 305 functions as a simultaneous play option. [0074]

The interactive OSK 801 allows the user to enter text or string in all

browsers (Mozilla’s Firefox™, Google chrome™, Internet-Explorer™, etc.), windows based application (MS Word™, PowerPoint™, Notepad™, etc.) and other operating system based applications. The interactive OSK 801 allows communication from browser to browser, and browser to any highlighted text content application. The user interface is also allowed to be used as a plug-in, so that text content is sent from browser to another browser text component or to any highlighted text content application. [0075]

FIG. 12 illustrates an interactive independent OSK entering input text

in a computer based text input platform on a client device, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. With reference to FIG. 11, a display screen 901 of a computing device such as Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, Smart Phone, Mobile and Touch-Screen Device is provided. A user selects an OSK button in the user interface and obtains an independent interactive OSK 801. The user initiates a text based application 902 in the computing device such as MS word™, Notepad™, Browsers, etc. By using the interactive OSK 801, the user is able to type a text string in the external text based application 902. A selective replay 316 in the interactive OSK 801 enables the user to listen to the entered text string in selective manner. The user highlights the preferred text and listens by selecting the selective replay 316. [0076]

FIG. 13 illustrates a new user interface for transliteration of an input

text in one language to one or more output languages, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. With reference to FIG. 3, a new user interface 1301 is provided.

The new user interface 1301 comprises all the functionality of the user interface 301 described in FIG. 3, with a difference in only providing transliterated text. Only one output text box 309 is provided.

A text entered inside the input text box 306, is

transliterated to a default text English as shown in a first list 303a of transliteration languages. The first list 303a of transliteration languages comprises English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Oriya, Bengali, etc. The first list 303a comprises all languages majorly spoken in India.

Also, a second list 303b of transliteration languages is provided

comprising different foreign languages comprising French, German, Mexican, Mandarin, Japanese, Italian, Arabic, etc. The user selects any one of the languages button in the first list 303a and second list 303b of the transliteration languages, and obtains the transliterated text string of the input text string inside the output text box 309. FIG. 14 illustrates an electronic speech apparatus for transliteration of

an input language to another language, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The speech apparatus 1401 is a simple device comprising a display screen 1403, a keypad 1404, a Reset/Start/On button 1407, a Replay button 1409, a Record button 1408, a Back button 1411, and a Forward button 1410. The Start button 1407 switches ON the speech apparatus. A set of hard keys are provided for selecting an input language 1402. A user selects an input language 1402 as Telugu and types a preferred text string using the keypad 1404. The speech device 1401 allows the user to play the audio for the typed text string. The Record button allows the user to record the audio for a desired text string displayed on the display screen 1403. The Stop/Off button 1406 allows the user to switch OFF the switching device 1401 or to stop/pause the playing audio in the middle. The Backward 1411 and Forward 1408 buttons allow the user to listen to specific audio clip. The speech apparatus 1401 operates on electricity using a plug or a battery.

The speech apparatus 1401 also comprises additional memory slots for using memory cards and an USB port for interfacing with a computing device and transferring any required data. [0078]

According to an embodiment herein, the speech apparatus 1401 is

also provided as a touch screen based device with access to all the functionalities through a touch interface. [0079]

FIG. 15 illustrates an electrical typewriter apparatus for a user to type

as well as listen to the script characters, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The electrical typewriter apparatus 1501 comprises an Audio button 1503, an On/Off button 1504, and a paper setting component 1505, a standard typing keypad for a preferred language 1506, a Space button 1512, a Clear All button 1511, a Create Text File/Save button 1510, a Print button, 1509 and a Replay button 1508. A user, while typing in the typewriter is able to listen to the audio for the specific script character being typed in real time. The On/Off button 1504 switched ON and OFF the electrical typewriter apparatus. The Space button 1512 is used to provide a gap between two words. The Create Text File/Save button 1510 allows the user to save the typed text in a document inside a memory. The audio button 1503 allows the user to enable and disable the audio output for the typed text. The Replay button 1508 allows the user to listen to the entire typed string on the paper. The electrical typewriter apparatus 1501 operates on electricity using a plug or a battery. The electrical typewriter apparatus 1401 also comprises additional memory slots for using memory cards and an USB port for interfacing with a computing device and transferring any required data. According to an embodiment herein, the computing device is any one

of a device that is made of any technology in the form of electrical, electronics, computer

device, mechanical, etc. [0081]

The various embodiments herein provide a method for entering text

or string in the desired language and to obtain transliterated output in multiple languages. The input text string is instantly transliterated as the user enters text or string inside the input text box.

The instant transliteration of the input string to multiple desired

languages saves a lot of time as compared to transliteration of an input language to single output language. A good accuracy of transliterated text or string is achieved. The user is provided with an audio output for the transliterated text or string in the selected languages. The embodiments are compatible with computing devices such as Smart Phones, Tablets, Computers, Pointing devices (like Mouse, Track-Ball, and Joystick), Touch-screen devices, etc. [0082]

Therefore, while the embodiments herein have been described in terms of preferred embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the embodiments herein can be practiced with modification.

Claims What is claimed is: 1. A method for transliterating a text string from one language script to multiple language scripts, the method comprising: providing a user interface for inputting the text string to be transliterated; selecting a preferred input language from a drop down menu; rendering an On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) based on the selected input language; providing an optional interactive OSK based on a user request; invoking and executing a first display function for displaying each character of the selected input language script on the OSK; selecting one or more output languages; entering the text string in the preferred language; invoking and executing a second display function for displaying each characters of the inputted text string in the selected input language; performing a Unicode based transliteration on the input text; invoking and executing a third display function for displaying each character of the selected input language for the transliterated text string; providing at least one output of the transliterated text string; and sharing the output transliterated text with one or more users.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the user selects one or more output languages from a transliteration language menu, and wherein an equal number of output text boxes are displayed as the number of transliteration languages selected by the user.

3. The method according to claim 1, wherein the transliterated text string is provided as at least one of a text output displayed in a text output box and an audio output in one of a mode comprising a simultaneous play, a replay and a selective replay.

4. The method according to claim 3, wherein the simultaneous play mode instantaneously plays a phonetic sound as the transliterated text string starts appearing in the text output box, the replay mode plays a phonetic sound for the entire transliterated text string when the user selects a respective Replay button, and the selective replay mode plays a phonetic sound for a particular transliterated text string highlighted by the user, wherein the simultaneous play, the replay and the selective replay modes plays the phonetic sound for the transliterated in the accent of the output language script.

5. The method according to claim 1, wherein the selection of language script from the drop down menu displays the characters of the selected language script on the OSK, where the OSK provides a flexible layout of the script characters arranged in a preset sequence thereby providing an option to display only a preferred group of script characters to the user at a time.

6. The method according to claim 5, wherein the script characters are formalized based on properties of the individual script characters comprising a group of vowels, a group of consonants, a group of half-consonants, a group of half-vowels, a group of numbers, a group of special characters and a group of all script characters.

7. The method according to claim 1, wherein executing the transliteration of the text string comprises: selecting a script of a desired input language from a group of one or more languages; displaying a set of characters of the language script selected from the drop down menu on the On-Screen Keyboard (OSK); entering a desired text string in the preferred language; displaying the transliterated text; providing a phonetic sound of the transliterated text string in a preferred output language; and launching an interactive OSK, wherein the interactive OSK enables to input text to be transliterated in any text based applications.

8. The method according to claim 7, wherein the interactive OSK is independent from the user interface, and wherein the interactive OSK is integrated with a plurality of browser based applications and a plurality of operating system based applications.

9. The method according to claim 1, wherein transliterating the text of one language script to multiple language scripts is executed through one or more computer based instructions, wherein the computer based instructions are provided as one of a webbased application, a plug-in to a browser, and an add-on to one or more internet browsers.

10. The method according to claim 1, wherein the user selects one or more text output language scripts before entering any text string in the text input box, where selecting

one or more output language scripts provides for displaying an equal number of text output boxes to display the transliterated text string in the selected language.

11. The method according to claim 1, wherein selecting the preferred input language loads a Unicode array value corresponding to each character of the selected language script, where the Unicode array value is loaded for vowels, consonants, half-vowels, halfconsonants, numerals and other special characters.

12. The method according to claim 1, wherein selecting of the preferred input language further loads the array value of audio file names associated with each character of the selected language script.

13. The method according to claim 1, wherein the first display function, the second display function and the third display function displays the characters of a selected language script by converting the Unicode value of the character to string value of the character, where the string value of the character describes the appearance of the character in the selected input language.

14. The method according to claim 1, wherein a plurality of third display functions are executed depending on the number of output language selected by the user, wherein each third display function is adapted to display the characters for the respective transliterated text string in the corresponding output text box.

15. The method according to claim 1, wherein inputting the text string in the text input box comprises: displaying vowels of the input language script independently;

displaying consonants of the input language script independently; displaying consonants of the input language script with a combination of half-vowels and half-consonants; using half-vowels after a consonant character; using half-consonants before a consonant character; displaying special characters of the input language script independently; and displaying numbers of the input language script independently.

16. The method according to claim 1, further comprising: generating a text document of the transliterated text string; storing the text document in the user device; and sharing the text document including the at least one output transliterated text string to one or more users; wherein the transliterated text is shared by one of an E-Mail and posting in social networking web portals.

17. A system for transliterating a text from one language script to multiple language scripts, the system comprising: a user interface for providing the user to transliterate a text strings in one language script to a preferred multiple language scripts; a drop down menu for selecting a preferred input language; a native transliteration for handling the issues relating to transliteration between unmatched script characters;

an input text box, for receiving the input text string from the user for transliteration; an On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) for providing input characters for the selected input language; a OSK button for launching an interactive OSK independent from the user interface; an output text box for displaying the transliterated text string, wherein the number of output text box depends on the number of output languages selected by the user; a display screen for displaying the user interface; a processor for processing an input text string and transliterating to a preferred output language scripts; a memory for storing a plurality of computer implemented instructions for processing the input text string and displaying the output on an user interface, and a speaker for playing a phonetic sound for the transliterated text string.

18. The system according to claim 17, wherein the transliteration of the input text string is performed in one of a Computer, Laptop, Tablet, Smart Phone and a Touch Screen Device.

19. The system according to claim 17, wherein a the user enters a text string in a text input box by adopting an input medium, wherein the input medium comprises any one of a Pointing Device, a Joystick, a Computer Mouse, a Touch Screen, a Track Ball and a Keyboard;

ABSTRACT

The various embodiments herein provide a method and system for transliterating a text from one language script to multiple language scripts. The method adopts a user interface for, inputting a text to be transliterated, selecting a preferred input language from a drop down menu, rendering an On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) based on the selected input language, providing an optional interactive OSK based on a user request, invoking and executing a first display function for displaying each character of the input language script on the OSK, entering the text in the preferred language, invoking and executing a second display function for displaying each characters of the inputted text, performing a Unicode based transliteration on the input text, invoking and executing a third display function for displaying each character of the transliterated text, providing at least one output of the transliterated text and sharing the output transliterated text with one or more users.
